A part of Salt Lake City-based Inter- mountain Healthcare, Logan Regional Hospital opened in 1980. Logan Regional focuses on giving back to the community by running a Speak- ers Bureau — which provides free presentations on various topics, like medical innovations and personal health — for local community and civic organizations in the state. Truven Health Analytics named Logan Regional to its 2017 Top 100 Hospital list for the seventh consecutive year. Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center (Hous- ton). Opened in 1971, Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center has more than 1,100 affiliated physicians and 1,800 employees. e medical center is equipped with 444 beds and houses Women's Me- morial Hermann, Children's Memorial Hermann and the Center for Ad- vanced Orthopedics. Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center (Jasper, Ind.). Sponsored by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center serves patients in eight rural counties across south- western Indiana. Memorial Hospital employs more than 1,700 staff members. Healthgrades has named the 143-bed hospital among the top 5 percent in the nation for outstanding patient experience for the last seven years. e National Rural Health Association recognized Memo- rial Hospital and Health Care Center as a 2017 Top 20 Rural Community Hospital. Mercer County Community Hospital–Coldwater (Ohio). Mercer County Community Hospital–Coldwater serves as the anchor facil- ity for Mercer Health, which was founded in 1950. Mercer County Community Hospital–Coldwater has more than 75 physicians and eight locations across the county. Last February, the hospital an- nounced an expansion project to its west wing that will add 54,000 square feet for a new surgical suite, private inpatient rooms and space for outpatient services. Mercy Health-Clermont Hospital (Batavia, Ohio). Mercy Health-Cl- ermont Hospital, part of Cincinnati-based Mercy Health, was founded in 1973. e hospital's more than 1,800 physicians specialize in an ex- pansive list of services, including cancer treatment, women's health and sports medicine. Truven Health Analytics recognized Mercy Health-Cl- ermont as a 100 Top Hospital in 2016 for the seventh time. Mercy Health-Defiance (Ohio) Hospital. Defiance Hospital, part of Cincinnati-based Mercy Health, has 17 patient rooms and 23 beds and is connected to Fauster Surgery Center and Mercy Defiance Clinic via a walkway. e hospital houses eight beds for emergency care and recently expanded its radiology services through a partnership with Columbus (Ohio) Radiology. Healthgrades awarded Mercy Health-Defiance Hos- pital its Outstanding Patient Experience Award in 2016. Mercy Health-Fairfield (Ohio) Hospital. Fairfield Hospital is a nation- ally recognized facility serving patients in Butler County and northern Cincinnati for almost 40 years. Healthgrades presented the hospital with its 2017 America's 100 Best Hospitals Award for ranking among the top 2 percent of hospitals nationwide for clinical quality. Healthgrades has honored Fairfield Hospital with its Outstanding Patient Experience Award, Patient Safety Excellence Award and Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence for three consecutive years since 2015. Mercy Hospital (Coon Rapids, Minn.). Mercy Hospital opened in 1965, two years aer the Anoka Community Hospital Association agreed to construct the facility near Coon Rapids. Mercy Hospital began operating as a single system with Fridley, Minn.-based Unity Hospital in 2017 through a "one hospital, two campuses" approach, intertwining the facilities' specialty services under parent company Minneapolis-based Allina Health. Originally established as St. Francis Hospital in 1926, Mercy Hospital Washington moved under its parent company, St. Louis-based based Mercy, in 1976. e 148-bed acute care hospital employs more than 233 physicians and saw 39,369 emergen- cy department visits in fiscal year 2016. e Leapfrog Group assigned Mercy Hospital Washington an A grade for preventing medical errors, accidents and infections for spring 2017. Mercy Iowa City (Iowa). Four Sisters of Mercy, who traveled by train carrying as many medical supplies as possible, arrived in Iowa at the request of University of Iowa's medical school dean to found Mercy Iowa City in 1873. As of 2015, the 218-bed acute care hospital was staffed by more than 225 physicians and housed 25 private rooms for outpatient surgery. Healthgrades named the hospital among its 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipients, an honor Mercy Iowa City has re- ceived each year for the past decade. Mercy Regional Medical Center (Durango, Colo.). Mercy Regional Medical Center, part of Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health, is a nonprofit 82-bed acute care hospital. e Sisters of Mercy opened the medical center as a six-bed hospital in 1882 that continued to grow until 2006 when its current facility opened. e hospital earned Healthgrades' 2017 Patient Safety Excellence Award and, for the ninth consecutive year, the 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award. Mid Coast Hospital (Brunswick, Maine). e 93-bed, nonprofit Mid Coast Hospital was established in 2001 and is part of Brunswick, Maine- based Mid Coast–Parkview Health. e hospital's more than 200 phy- sicians include 100 providers from Mid Coast Medical Group, a multi- specialty organization with four primary care and 18 specialty practices. Mid Coast Hospital is Magnet-recognized for nursing excellence and received Healthgrades' 2017 Patient Safety Excellence Award. MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena (Mich.). MidMichigan Medi- cal Center-Alpena traces its roots to Alpena's first community hospital, which opened in 1915 as the Donald McRae Hospital. A new 88-bed fa- cility called Alpena General Hospital replaced it and is now licensed for 139 beds and has grown to employ more than 251 physicians and mid- level providers. Part of Midland-based MidMichigan Health, MidMich- igan Medical Center-Alpena was recognized among the 2017 Top 20 Rural Community Hospitals by the National Rural Health Association. Monroe (Wis.) Clinic Hospital. Five physicians collaborated in 1939 to create community-oriented primary and specialized care through Monroe Clinic, the umbrella organization of its flagship Monroe Clinic Hospital. e campus features more than 120 medical providers and its emergency department boasts two trauma rooms, 10 exam rooms and six observation rooms. Healthgrades honored Monroe Clinic Hospital with three awards for 2017: Outstanding Patient Experience Award, America's 100 Best Hospitals for Gastrointestinal Care Award and America's 100 Best Hospitals for Pulmonary Care Award. Montrose (Colo.) Memorial Hospital. Montrose Memorial Hospital has more than 100 physicians across 23 medical specialties. e 75-bed nonprofit hospital was founded in 1950 by the county of Montrose and offers an expan- sive range of services including a Level III trauma center and a family birthing center. e National Rural Health Association awarded Montrose Memorial Hospital a spot on its Top 20 Rural Community Hospitals for 2017 list.
