Los Altos, Calif.-based Daughters of Charity Health System selected BlueMountain Capital Manage- ment, a private investment firm, to manage and operate the system's six hospitals and medical founda- tion. Putnam, Conn.-based Day Kim- ball Healthcare and Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare are exploring a strategic partnership that could lead to a formal affiliation. Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis., and its affiliate, Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union, Iowa, strengthened their long-standing relationship through a more formalized part- nership agreement. Hanover (Pa.) Hospital is explor- ing proposals from York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health and Harrisburg, Pa.-based Pinna- cleHealth System. Sherman, Texas-based Heritage Park Surgical Hospital partnered with Texas Health Ventures Group. New Castle, Pa.-based Jameson Health System agreed to be ac- quired by Pittsburgh-based UPMC last fall, but the system is looking for buyers again aer the Penn- sylvania Attorney General's Office raised antitrust concerns. KishHealth System in DeKalb, Ill., signed a definitive agreement to join Chicago-based Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, an aca- demic health system whose entities operate as Northwestern Medicine. Lancaster (Pa.) General Health became a member of Penn Med- icine, the parent organization of Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania Health System. Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pa., entered into a new partnership with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health signed a letter of intent to acquire Columbia, S.C.-based Providence Hospitals, which includes two facilities and is part of Cleveland-based Sisters of Charity Health System. LifePoint Health also acquired Flemingsburg, Ky.- based Fleming County Hospital, and a deal allowing LifePoint Health to buy a majority stake in Watertown (Wis.) Regional Medi- cal Center received state approval. Longmont (Colo.) United Hospi- tal, a nonprofit community hos- pital, officially joined Englewood, Colo.-based Centura Health. Traverse City, Mich.-based Mun- son Healthcare partnered with St. Ignace, Mich.-based Mackinac Straits Health System to improve patient care. Manhattan-based NYU Langone Medical Center is moving for- ward with a full-asset merger with Brooklyn-based Lutheran Medical Center. Oregon Health & Science Univer- sity in Portland and Salem (Ore.) Health are close to finalizing their planned affiliation. Prime Healthcare Foundation, the nonprofit affiliate of Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services, signed a letter of intent to acquire all assets of Southern Regional Medical Center in Riv- erdale, Ga., and to run the hospital for at least five years. Prime Healthcare Services and Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives also agreed to defer the effective date of Prime's acquisition of Saint Clare's Health System, a three-hospital system based in Denville, N.J. In addition, Prime Healthcare Services entered into an agree- ment to acquire Mercy Suburban Hospital in East Norriton, Pa., in March, and recently filed docu- ments showing that Prime will pay $35 million for the facility. Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services and Irvine, Ca- lif.-based St. Joseph Health signed a letter of intent to create a new, single organization.
