Peter Wozniak, CEO of Venice (Fla.) Regional Bayfront Health, resigned at the end of July. Jeff Reece was named interim CEO, and Peggy Greene is returning as interim CNO. n Hospital & Health System Transactions St. Louis-based Ascension final- ized its agreement with Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare to acquire four hospitals in Ten- nessee that were jointly owned by Capella and Ascension's Tennessee ministry, Saint omas Health. Capella Holdings, the parent com- pany of Capella Healthcare, also signed a definitive agreement for Birmingham, Ala.-based Medical Properties Trust to acquire Capel- la for $900 million in cash. e board of directors of Cof- feyville (Kan.) Regional Medical Center voted to sign a letter of intent to affiliate with Mercy Hos- pital Independence (Kan.). Franklin, Tenn.-based Commu- nity Health Systems sold Payson (Ariz.) Regional Medical Center, which is operated by Mogollon Health Alliance, to Phoenix-based Banner Health.
