He is board certified in four specialties: internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology and interventional cardiology. Along with his leader- ship roles, Dr. Bhatia is involved in several charitable organizations, such as the Uganda Heart Project, which provides cardiac care to children with congenital heart disease. Jeremy Boal, MD. President of Mount Sinai Downtown and Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer of Mount Sinai Health System (New York City). Dr. Boal has spent more than 20 years as a leader at Mount Sinai, culminating in his current role as president of Mount Sinai Downtown and executive vice president and chief clinical officer of Mount Sinai Health System, which maintains sev- en hospitals and 6,500-plus physicians. In his roles, Dr. Boal is responsi- ble for overseeing the health system's more than $500 million investment to create Mount Sinai Downtown, and ensuring patients can access and receive the highest quality clinical care and services. A board-certified internist with certification in geriatrics, Dr. Boal previously served as executive vice president and CMO of Mount Sinai. He also worked as the executive director and co-founder of the health system's Visiting Doctors Program, which provides in-home primary care services to 1,000-plus patients annually. Anne Boland Docimo, MD. Executive Vice President of En- terprise Population Health and Chief Clinical Transformation Officer of Jefferson Health (Philadelphia). Prior to joining Jef- ferson Health, Dr. Docimo served as CMO for UPMC Health Plan and senior medical director for UPMC Hospitals. As a physician executive for both provider and payer organizations, Dr. Docimo has experience in using clinical and claims data to improve quality of care as well as the health system's financial outcomes. Additionally, she serves as associate dean for clinical affairs at Philadelphia-based Sidney Kimmel Medical College and president of JeffCare Alliance Clinically Integrated Network, a communication tool between independent and employed primary care physicians to develop evidence-based clinical protocols. John Bonamo, MD. Executive Vice President, Chief Quality Officer and CMO of RWJBarnabas Health (New Brunswick, N.J.). Dr. Bonamo has served in a variety of leadership positions with the health system or one of its affiliates since he joined RWJBarnabas Health in 1993. He was appointed chief quality officer and CMO of the 11-hospital system in December 2014 and began in the position the fol- lowing month. A board-certified physician in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Bonamo is responsible for overseeing a staff of 32,000 employees, including 9,000 physicians and 1,000 residents and interns. In addition to his clinical and executive leadership roles, he has also maintained a faculty teaching position in the international management program at Peking University in Beijing since 2006. William A. Bornstein, MD, PhD. Chief Quality Officer and CMO of Emory Healthcare (Atlanta). Dr. Bornstein has worked at Emory Healthcare for nearly 20 years and has held numerous executive leadership positions during his tenure with the seven-hospital system. He was appointed CMO and chief quality officer for the system in Sep- tember 2003. Throughout his career, Dr. Bornstein has championed the use of IT to improve healthcare quality and delivery, and assisted in the development of Emory Healthcare's clinical data repository, which has become one of the largest data banks in the world. He is also a board-cer- tified internist and endocrinologist. Bernard Boulanger, MD. Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer of MetroHealth System (Cleveland). Dr. Bou- langer joined MetroHealth as the system's executive vice president and chief clinical officer in March 2016. Before joining MetroHealth, he served as CMO of Lexington-based University of Kentucky HealthCare, where he led the organization's clinical operations, program develop- ment and clinical service quality initiatives, among other responsibilities. He also held a number of leadership roles at Lexington-based UK Good Samaritan Hospital, including physician executive for the hospital and associate CMO for perioperative services. Tom Buchholz, MD. Executive Vice President and Physi- cian-in-Chief of University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston). Dr. Buchholz serves as executive vice president and physician-in-chief of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Cen- ter, which has been ranked as one of the top two hospitals in cancer care every year since U.S. News & World Report began conducting its annual "America's Best Hospitals" survey in 1990. In his roles, Dr. Buchholz is responsible for managing all clinical faculty and operations for the hospi- tal and ambulatory clinics. Along with his leadership roles, Dr. Buchholz mentors young physicians and trainees in clinical care and research. His specific research interests include clinical and translational research in breast cancer and radiation oncology. Judie Charlton, MD. CMO of WVU Medicine (Morgantown, W.Va.). Dr. Charlton has held a variety of leadership and executive roles at WVU Medicine since she joined the Morgantown, W.Va.-based WVU School of Medicine in 1989. She was appointed department chair of ophthalmology in 2008, working her way up to become CMO in Sep- tember 2011. As CMO, she serves as the primary physician executive for the 10-hospital system. Under her leadership, WVU Medicine was named the state's largest employer in 2016, with a staff of 15,695 employ- ees, including 372 residents and 46 fellows. The system also witnessed 1,472,426 clinical visits in 2016 and conducted 19,646 inpatient surgeries systemwide the same year. Catherine Chang, MD. CMO of Greenville (S.C.) Health Sys- tem. Dr. Chang joined Greenville Health System in 2005 and serves as the medical director of the GHS Patient Referral and Transfer Center in addition to CMO of the system. She is responsible for systemwide med- ical oversight, ensuring safe, coordinated care delivery. Dr. Chang has previous experience as the medical director of respiratory care and CMO of Greenville Memorial Hospital, the flagship hospital of GHS. She is the chair of the local steering committee for MyHealth First Network and represents GHS on the Baptist Easley (S.C.) Hospital board. Robert Cherry, MD. Chief Medical and Quality Officer of UCLA Health (Los Angeles). Dr. Cherry was selected as chief medi- cal and quality officer of UCLA Health in January 2014. He is responsible for overseeing a staff of 2,000, comprising physicians and nonclinical em- ployees. Prior to joining the four-hospital system, he worked as director of clinical and operational excellence at Navigant Consulting. He also served as CMO and vice president for clinical effectiveness at Maywood, Ill.-based Loyola University Medical Center. In addition to his execu- tive responsibilities, Dr. Cherry also regularly consults on behalf of the American College of Surgeons. Joe Corcoran, DO. CMO of Brandon (Fla.) Regional Hospital. Dr. Corcoran worked for more than 20 years as an OB-GYN physician in private practice, where he delivered more than 3,000 newborns and performed or assisted on thousands of surgeries during his tenure. After working in private practice for more than two decades, Dr. Corcoran was appointed CMO of Brandon Regional Hospital, a 438-bed facility that serves as the flagship hospital for Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Health- care's West Florida Division. In 2008, he joined The Advisory Board Company as a director and faculty adviser with a focus on physician leadership development. Since joining the organization, Dr. Corcoran has worked his way up to senior medical director and provides his input on The Advisory Board's clinical finance and revenue cycle management strategies, among other responsibilities. Glen Couchman, MD. CMO of Baylor Scott & White Health Central Texas Division (Dallas). Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Couchman first joined Baylor Scott & White Health Central Texas Division in 1982, beginning his now 30-plus-year tenure. He was
