Mr. Lozano joined Hackensack University Medical Center in July 2013 aer serving as the deputy chief of staff for the Environmental Pro- tection Agency as part of the Obama admin- istration. He has played a quintessential role in the Hackensack–Meridian Health merger, which was finalized in 2016. He also helped develop the Seton Hall-Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. NJBiz named Mr. Lozano's a recipient of its 2015 40 Under 40 award. Brian Mathis. Chief Development Officer at Surgical Care Affiliates (Deerfield, Ill.). Mr. Mathis joined Surgical Care Affiliates in 2009 as vice president of strategy aer spending time as a manager at the revenue growth strategy firm Blue Ridge Partners. As chief develop- ment officer, he leads SCA's strategy, payer en- gagement and team development. Mr. Mathis sits on the Ambulatory Surgery Center Associ- ation's board of directors. Wendy Mitchell. Vice President of Opera- tions for OSF HealthCare Foundation (Peo- ria, Ill.). OSF HealthCare Foundation named Ms. Mitchell vice president of operations in March 2015. She is responsible for the foun- dation's operations, including implementing strategic priorities and aligning all Ministry di- rectives. She also oversees the foundation's ma- jor fundraising programs and development of management staff. Prior to joining OSF Foun- dation, Ms. Mitchell was director of the annual fund at OSF Saint Francis and Children's Hos- pital of Illinois Foundation. Peoria Magazine named Ms. Mitchell among its 40 Leaders Un- der Forty list in November 2016. Vinod Mitta, MD, MPH. Vice President of Clinical Operations at Oscar Health (New York City). Dr. Mitta is the clinical lead behind Oscar Health's concierge model for health in- surance. is model provides beneficiaries with three care guides and a registered nurse. Dr. Mitta was quintessential in building the com- pany's proprietary care network, which provides beneficiaries with access to a wealth of providers encompassing more than 400 specialties. Santosh Mohan. Head of 'More Disruption Please' Labs at athenahealth (San Francisco). Mr. Mohan was named head of athenahealth's 'More Disruption Please' Labs in 2017. He be- came chairperson of the HIMSS Innovation Committee in July 2016, and has been actively involved in the healthcare arena since launching his career with Cerner Corp. in 2006. Mr. Mohan received six C-I-CARE Recognitions from Stan- ford Health in 2015 and 2016, Stanford Health's EHRAM Stage 7 Inpatient and Ambulatory Val- idations in 2016 and, most recently, the HIMSS Founders Leadership Award in 2017. Ameet Nanda. Vice President of Specialty Services and Site Administrator of the Pacif- ic Campus for Sutter Health. (Sacramento, Calif.). Mr. Nanda was appointed vice pres- ident of specialty services and site adminis- trator in April 2017. In this role, he oversees operations and strategy for service lines such as transplantation, cardiovascular and neuro- sciences services. He previously deployed Lean across the health system's West Bay Region and spearheaded creative initiatives to redistribute billing staff at the system's medical foundation and accelerate cash flow, leading to a $1.5 mil- lion gain. He also helped Sutter reduce HIM/ coding lead time from 4.5 days to 2.5 days, which resulted in a $1.2 million increase in cash-on-hand and a 50 percent improvement in on-time starts for surgical cases. Nadia Nguyen Adams. COO of the Indiana University Center for Health Innovation and Implementation Science (Indianapolis). Ms. Adams aims to support high-quality, pa- tient-centered and cost-effective care solutions as COO of the IU Center for Health Innova- tion and Implementation Sciences. She part- ners with health systems and researchers to coordinate evidence-based knowledge with healthcare delivery. She joined IU School of Medicine as executive director of the Indiana Translational Sciences Institute in 2013 and was promoted to her current role in 2015. In 2017, the Indiana Business Journal honored her with its Forty Under 40 award. Austin Ord. Director of Post-Acute Care for the Sutter Health Bay Area (San Francisco). In his position as Sutter Health Bay Area's director of post-acute care, Mr. Ord developed a preferred provider network for skilled nursing facilities across San Francisco. Additionally, he helped implement a SNF Community Case Manager program, which led to a 36 percent decrease in readmissions and 14 percent shorter length of stay. Mr. Ord played a critical role in a helping the system achieve an 89 percent reduction in patient wait times for the California Pacific Medical Cen- ter chemotherapy infusion center aer installing a point-of-care blood test machine. Fatima Paruk, MD. CMO of Allscripts An- alytics (Chicago). Dr. Paruk uses analytics to increase efficiency, effectiveness and improve health outcomes for Allscripts Analytics. She is responsible for driving innovation in popu- lation health analytics that increase efficiency and effectiveness while improving outcomes. Her recent work to identify and treat at-risk chronic disease patients has inspired her to lead a team of data scientists to develop new al- gorithms that identify the trajectory of diabetes and inform methods of early disease identifica- tion. Aer Dr. Paruk witnessed a terror attack in Kenya, Africa, in 2013, she served as a med- ical incident commander and helped stabilize 175 wounded individuals. Aer the attack, she was an integral part of draing the National Emergency Medical Services Policy, which rev- olutionized emergency care in Kenya. Maria Portela Martinez, MD. Chief of Medical Training and Geriatrics Branch of the Health Resources Services Administration (Rockville, Md.). A family physician by training, Dr. Mar- tinez's vision for an evolution in primary care inspired her current role as chief of the medical training and geriatrics branch of HHS' Health Resources Services Administration. She also pro- vides clinical services at Unity Health Care in Washington, D.C., and is a health equity fellow at D.C.-based George Washington University. A native of Puerto Rico, Dr. Martinez has observed several healthcare systems and shared her exper- tise with President Barack Obama's Task Force on Puerto Rico's Economic Development. She has a passion for mentorship and providing quality healthcare access to vulnerable populations. e National Minority Quality Forum recognized Dr. Martinez with the 40 Under 40 Leaders in Health Award for 2017. Rushi Potdar, MD. Director of R&D Strate- gy and Business Operations for Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices (New Brunswick, N.J.). Since joining Johnson & Johnson as a management associate in 2012, Dr. Potdar grown as a leader and was eventually promoted to director of research and development, strat- egy and business operations for the company's medical device business. Dr. Potdar leads inno- vation strategy for Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices, tasked with bringing together inter- nal portfolio insights, assessing unmet clinical needs and defining organizational priorities. Johnson & Johnson awarded Dr. Potdar its Standards of Leadership award in 2015. Mike Pykosz, JD. Co-Founder and CEO of Oak Street Health (Chicago). Since co-found- ing Oak Street Health in January 2013, Mr. Pykosz has overseen the company's growth to serve 30,000 patients, operate 20 clinics and employ more than 760 individuals as of 2017. e company focuses on providing medical and social services to Medicare enrollees. Crain's Chicago named Mr. Pykosz in its 40 under 40 in 2017. Before his tenure at Oak Street Health, he was a principal at Boston Consulting Group. He has experience developing community outreach strategies for low-income adults and works to provide risk-based contracting focused on pri- mary care and lowering unnecessary care utili- zation. Shivdev Rao, MD. Executive Vice President of UPMC Enterprises (Pittsburgh). Dr. Rao com- bined his cardiovascular training, research and technology interests to become one of UPMC's leading digital health strategists. He served as the vice president of clinical innovation strategy at UPMC before being promoted to executive vice president of UPMC Enterprises in Octo- ber 2016. Dr. Rao is part of a team that aims to change healthcare by improving quality while lowering costs through capital investments. UPMC awarded him the James Shaver Award for Outstanding Technology in 2013.
