Disinfectants and detergents
DisCide Ultra. is hospital-level, one-step quaternary ammonium is
available from Palmero Health Care. It comes in towelettes and spray as
well as in a gallon form. DisCide Ultra can kill pathogens in one minute.
Dispatch. A Clorox product, Dispatch hospital cleaner disinfectant tow-
els with bleach are Environmental Protection Agency-registered to kill
C. diff spores in five minutes and other multidrug-resistant organisms in
one minute. e wipes eliminate the need to pre-clean surfaces before
disinfection because they contain detergent.
Fuse for Surfaces. From Tristel, this sporicidal disinfectant is designed
specifically for large surface areas, but can be decanted into smaller con-
tainers to apply on smaller surfaces. In five minutes, Fuse for Surfaces is
sporicidal, mycobactericidal, virucidal, fungicidal and bactericidal.
Hydrogen Peroxide Cleaner Disinfectant. Clorox touts this disinfectant
as the fastest non-bleach disinfect, citing studies giving it an advantage
over leading quats. It can kill bacteria and most viruses in one minute,
and can kill norovirus in three minutes. It is also effective against 13 an-
tibiotic-resistant organisms. It comes in spray and wipe forms.
Hygea Benzalkonium Chloride Antiseptic Towelettes. ese wipes, of-
fered by PDI Healthcare, contain 0.13 percent benzalkonium chloride.

Micro-Kill One Germicidal Alcohol Wipes. From Medline, these wipes
are for use on hard, nonporous surfaces. ey are a polypropylene cloth
with a quaternary ammonium and alcohol solution that can effectively
kill 25 microorganisms in one minute.
Mikrozid wipes. Mikrozid wipes, from Schulke, blend two alcohols to be
effective against viruses in one minute of contact time. ey clean and
disinfect and are quick-drying and residue-free. Schulke offers them in
two sizes.
NOROxyCdiff. From PreVasive, this Environmental Protection Agen-
cy-registered C. diff sporicide has a two-minute kill time for C. diff spores
and can kill most other germs in 30 seconds. When used with PreVasive's
deionized water, NOROxyCdiff has a lavender or chamomile scent.
Oxiver TB. From Diversy, Oxivir TB is a ready-to-use disinfectant clean-
er based on proprietary hydrogen peroxide technology. It can disinfect
in one minute and is a tuberculocidal in five minutes.
OxyCide Daily Disinfectant Cleaner. EcoLab's OxyCide daily disinfec-
tant is a nonbleach formula that is effective in three minutes against C.
diff spores. Its active ingredients are hydrogen peroxide and peracetic
acid, helping minimize surface damage by not leaving residual films or
salts behind.
PeridoxRTU Sporicidal Disinfectant. Contec Healthcare makes Peridox-
RTU Sporicidal Disinfectant and Cleaner, which it touts as the industry's
first nonbleach three-minute sporicidal disinfectant. It contains no alco-
hol or bleach and does not damage surfaces or clothing.
Pinnacle Monitor for Manual Enzymatic Cleaning. is monitor from
Serim is used to determine the presence of active enzymes in manual
bath solutions using enzymatic detergents.
Equipment for specific procedures
EndoKit. EndoKit is a customizable endoscopy kit from EndoChoice. It can
include a CinchPad, bedside cleaning kit, lubricant gel and gauze pads.
PneumoniaCheck. From ARC Medical, PneumoniaCheck is designed
to collect aerosols from lungs on a medical-grade microbial filter. It is
designed for easy analysis with PCR techniques.
Hand hygiene
Acute-Kare Healthcare Personnel Hand Wash. From Steris, this hand-
wash features 1 percent chloroxylenol and is effective against a broad
spectrum of microorganisms. It has an herbal sent and is emollient-en-
riched, helping condition the skin.
Contec Alcohol-Free Foam Hand Sanitizer. is foam hand sanitizer is
waterless and kills nearly 100 percent of common germs — including
MRSA — aer 15 seconds of wet time. It also provides two to four hours
of residual protection aer application.
Glove/Gloves. Biotrol makes Glove/Gloves, clear, textured polyethylene
glove protectors used to preserve exam gloves while handling patient
charts or doing other nonclinical tasks.
GripStrong Nitrile. GripStrong Nitrile gloves from Sempermed are pow-
der-free, a latex alternative and have textured fingertips to provide an
enhanced grip.
Hand and Nail Brushes. Key Surgical offers hand and nail brushes de-
signed to provide a thorough but gentle clean. ey are latex-free and
come in a variety of sizes.
Health IT
HyGreen Hand Hygiene Recording and Reminding System. HyGreen
offers this system that records all hand hygiene events and also reminds
healthcare workers to wash their hands between patients. HyMarks, the
reporting system, tracks all data and can provide real-time information
to infection preventionists.
Lotion So Skin Conditioner Skin Cream. From Steris, the moisturizing
lotion is made especially for healthcare workers to use aer antimicro-
bial hand-washing, as it contains emollients and moisturizers. It does
not affect the antimicrobial effect of products containing chlorhexidine
gluconate and can be used under latex gloves.
Optidose InstantFoam Hand Sanitizers. DebMed makes InstantFoam
with moisturizers that are alcohol-free. It spreads rapidly and can kill
nearly 100 percent of common germs in 15 seconds or less.
Provon Green Certified Foam Hand Cleaner. Gojo offers this product, a
mild, biodegradable foam soap formula made for general use. Its refills
are made from recyclable plastic.
Provon Moisturizing Hand & Body Lotion. is lotion from Gojo is latex
and CHG compatible. It absorbs quickly and doesn't leave a greasy residue.
Quik-Care Nourishing Foam Hand Sanitizer. is sanitizer from Eco-
Lab is 62 percent ethyl alcohol, killing nearly all microorganisms in 15
seconds. It is hypoallergenic, dye-free and fragrance-free with bisabolol,
vitamin B3 and vitamin E.
safeHands. safeHands hand sanitizer contains no alcohol — its main ac-
tive ingredient is benzalkonium chloride, which can kill 99.99 percent of
germs. It is nontoxic and nonflammable.
Sani-Hands. From PDI Healthcare, Sani-Hans are instant hand sanitiz-
ing wipes. It has a 70 percent alcohol formulation and has a 15 second
contact time. e wipes are designed for use by personnel, patients and
visitors and come in a variety of packs — 20-count bedside pack, canis-
ters and individual packets.
SemperShield Nitrile. ese gloves from Sempermed are powder-free
and safe to use with chemotherapy drugs. ey have a textured surface
for better grip.
