From Metrex, this plastic canister solidifies bodily fluids from medical procedures, protecting providers from potentially hazardous exposure. It prevents aerosolization and splashing, which can spread infection. Cleanis Carebag Comode Liner. From Cleanis, the Cleanis Comode Lin- er reduces microbial transmission by minimizing exposure to potentially infectious waste products. e liner also helps cut down on cleaning as- sociated with commode pails. Cleanis Carebag Bedpan Liner. Also from Cleanis, the company's bedpan liner is designed for pre- and post-anesthesia patients and patients re- covering from gastrointestinal surgery. e liner fits most standard-size pans. GelMax Super Absorbent Powder. A Cleanis product, the powder turns liquids to gels, which reduces biohazards and risk of infection during cleaning and transport of waste. e powder can be used in varying amounts for any amount of liquid. UV disinfection EDU. From Lumalier UV Surface & Air Disinfection, EDU is a set of four portable UV disinfecting lamps. e lamps can be floor- or ceil- ing-mounted and have disinfection timers. Helios. From Surfacide, Helios eliminates microbes through the use of UV-C light. e short-wave radiation technology uses multiple light emitters to cut disinfection time and improve room coverage. From Clorox Healthcare, this UV disinfection system features a touch screen, data storage, and a remote control. It also has cycle completion assurance tools, including dose verify cards to en- sure the appropriate dose of UV-C light has been received on a target surface. Tru-D SmartUVC. From Tru-D, this UV disinfection system includes room-sensing technology to detect room configuration and regulate mi- crobe-killing dosages of UV light. e system also destroys bacteria that are not in the direct line of light, according to the product website. Xenex. LightStrike by Xenex is a full spectrum, intense pulsed-xenon UV-C robot for whole-room disinfection. e robot is the only UV-C technology validated in multiple peer-reviewed clinical outcome studies to reduce rates of C. diff, MRSA, VRE, and other MDROs. Catheters and central lines 3M Curos Disinfecting Port Protector. ClearGuard HD Antimicrobial Barrier Cap. ese catheter caps from Pursuit Vascular can kill bacteria and fungus inside hemodialysis cathe- ters to help prevent catheter-associated bloodstream infections. It is the only disinfecting cap with FDA 510(k) clearance to provide continuous disinfection for up to seven days. SwabFlush. is syringe, from Excelsior Medical (which is now a Med- line company), is for saline flushes or medication administration.
