13 Carol Crews. Senior Vice President and CFO of Tanner Health System (Carrollton, Ga.). Ms. Crews has climbed the administrative ladder during her time at Tanner Health System. She joined the system in 1991 as a staff accountant and served in various capacities before becoming taking on her current roles. Ms. Crews is a certified public accountant and member of the West Georgia Chapter of the Georgia Society of CPAs, the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Georgia Hospital Association. She is also active in the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Carrollton. Michael Crofton. Senior Vice President and CFO of TriHealth (Cincinnati). Mr. Crofton has served in his current capacity at the five-hospital system since September 2014. However, he first joined TriHealth in 2001 and previously served as its vice president of finance. Mr. Crofton was also previously the CFO of Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati. Michael Curran. Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative and Financial Officer of MedStar Health (Columbia, Md.). Mr. Curran has been with MedStar Health since 2002. In his current position, he oversees the administrative and financial aspects of more than 25 companies, which have a combined annual revenue of roughly $5 billion. Outside work, Mr. Curran has served on the American Red Cross Regional board of directors and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation board of directors, among others. Conrad Deese. CFO of LifePoint Health Eastern Group (Brentwood, Tenn.). LifePoint Health made Mr. Deese the CFO of the organization's Eastern Group in April. As CFO, Mr. Deese is responsible for leading strategic initiatives and driving financial operations for newly acquired hospitals, including LifePoint and Duke LifePoint facilities in western North Carolina and Virginia. Previously, he served as vice president of finance for the Eastern Group. Robert DeMichiei. Executive Vice President and CFO of UPMC (Pittsburgh). Mr. DeMichiei joined UPMC, a $12 billion integrated healthcare delivery and finance system, in 2004. Under his leadership, UPMC reported strong financial results for the first six months of its fiscal year 2016, including a 17.5 percent year-over-year increase in health plan revenue. In the community, Mr. DeMichiei is involved in the United Way of Allegheny County finance committee, Seton Hill University board of trustees and the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry board of directors. Lori Donaldson. CFO of UC San Diego Health. As CFO of UCSD Health, Ms. Donaldson leads the development and implementation of the financial strategies, operating and capital budgets, and system of financial reporting and controls that support San Diego's only academic medical center. Before joining UCSD Health, which has a budget of more than $1 billion, she was the assistant vice president of financial planning and analysis for a large financial institution. Christopher Dunleavy. Senior Vice President of Finance and CFO of Brigham and Women's Health Care (Boston). Effective May 2, Mr. Dunleavy became senior vice president of finance and CFO of Brigham and Women's Health Care. Mr. Dunleavy has more than 25 years of experience in financial management and strategic planning for healthcare, public accounting and service industries. Previously, he served as group senior vice president and CFO of the member-owned healthcare services company Vizient. Chris Ellington. President of UNC Health Care Network Hospitals and Executive Vice President and CFO of UNC Hospitals at Chapel Hill (N.C.). Mr. Ellington joined UNC in 2008. Today, he serves as the principal fiscal leader for both the UNC hospitals and UNC Health Care's system affiliations. Previously, Mr. Ellington was vice president of fiscal services and CFO of Appalachian Regional Healthcare in Lexington, Ky. Mr. Ellington is a former recipient of the Triangle Business Journal's CFO of the Year Award. Dan Enderson. Senior Vice President and CFO of Centura Health (Englewood, Colo.). Mr. Enderson joined Centura Health in 2011. During his career, Mr. Enderson has filled finance positions at hospitals and health systems all across the country, including Park Ridge Hospital in Fletcher, N.C.; Huguley Memorial Medical Center in Burleson, Texas; and various regional offices of Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System. David Ertel. CFO of Einstein Healthcare Network (Philadelphia). Since he was named CFO in 2013, Mr. Ertel has led the network's financial activities, directed information services and real estate activities, and represented Einstein Healthcare to rating agencies, government entities and other outside parties. Previously, he was managing director at Morgan Stanley and head of its national healthcare group. In sum, his career in healthcare finance spans more than 30 years. Jo Ann Escasa-Haigh. Executive Vice President and CFO of St. Joseph Health (Irvine, Calif.). Since 2007, Ms. Escasa- Haigh has managed St. Joseph's financial needs — including accounting, regulatory and management reporting, operational and capital budgeting and forecasting, decision support, insurance risk management, treasury services, supply chain operations, real estate/ master plan and revenue cycle services. Previously, Ms. Escasa-Haigh was vice president of finance at PacifiCare (acquired by UnitedHealth Group in 2005) for 10 years. William "Bill" Fenske. CFO of Rice Memorial Hospital (Willmar, Minn.). 2016 marks Mr. Fenske's 10th year as CFO of Rice Memorial Hospital. In the past, he's held CFO positions at Agnesian HealthCare in Fond du Lac, Wis., and Winona (Minn.) Health. Mr. Fenske is also a current member of the American College of Healthcare Executives- Minnesota Chapter's board of directors. Steve Filton. Senior Vice President and CFO of Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.). Mr. Filton has been with UHS since 1985, and he assumed his current role in 2003. Under Mr. Filton's leadership, UHS recorded net income of $190.8 million in the first quarter of 2016, up from $174.3 million in the same period the year prior. Additionally, revenues increased 10.1 percent year over year to $2.5 billion in the first quarter of 2016. Mr. Filton, a CPA, earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Steven Fischer. Senior Vice President of Finance and CFO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Boston). BIDMC named Mr. Fischer senior vice president and CFO in 2004. At the time, he already had 25 years of experience in healthcare, including positions at Boston- based Caritas Christi Health Care System (converted to Steward Health Care System in 2010), St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston, Milton (Mass.) Hospital and Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Mass. Kenneth Fisher. Associate Vice President of Finance for UI Health Care and CFO of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (Iowa City). Mr. Fisher has provided financial leadership for UI Health Care and managed all major financial operations and related personnel matters within the system since 2007. As of April, UI Hospitals and Clinics boasted an "Aa2" rating and stable outlook with Moody's. Amy Floria. CFO of Indiana University Health Goshen (Ind.). Ms. Floria became CFO of IU Health Goshen during 2008, during the economic collapse, but she helped the organization get by without layoffs. Today, Ms. Floria is working to improve the accuracy of the hospital's accounting software data inputs, analyze the price elasticity of the local market, investigate price pressures and develop a new pricing strategy.
