19 Lance Sewell. CFO of South Lake Hospital (Clermont, Fla.). Mr. Sewell has extensive experience in finance roles at hospitals. A certified public accountant, he has served as CFO of South Lake Hospital, part of Orlando Health, since 2007. Previously, he served as South Lake Hospital's director of finance, and was assistant CFO of Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge (La.), formerly Summit Hospital. Robert Shapiro. Executive Vice President of Finance and CFO of Northwell Health (Great Neck, N.Y.). Mr. Shapiro has served as CFO of Northwell Health, formerly North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, since 2000. As CFO, he is responsible for oversight of financial affairs and other corporate operations. Prior to the CFO position, Mr. Shapiro, a certified public accountant, was vice president of financial operations and director of finance/assistant administrator at Northwell Health. Roger Sharma. Executive Vice President and CFO of Citrus Valley Health Partners (Covina, Calif.). Mr. Sharma has more than two decades of experience in healthcare finance and leadership, about five of which have been as CFO of Citrus Valley Health Partners. Prior to taking on his current role, Mr. Sharma, a certified public accountant, was senior vice president of financial operations for City of Hope, a comprehensive cancer center in Duarte, Calif. He also previously worked at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, Calif., California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles and Glendale (Calif.) Memorial Hospital and Health Center. Steve Short. Executive Vice President and CFO of Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital. Mr. Short has served as CFO of Tampa General for 16 years. Prior to joining Tampa General, he was vice president of operations and CFO of the University of Louisville (Ky.) Hospital for five years. Previously, Mr. Short was assistant vice president of finance at University of Louisville Hospital and was a financial specialist at Humana Hospital of San Antonio (Texas), now known as Metropolitan Methodist Hospital. Shannon Sock. Executive Vice President of Strategy and CFO of Mercy Health (Cincinnati). Since joining Mercy Health in 1999, Mr. Sock has led a variety of systemwide initiatives, including an EHR implementation, a virtual care program and the creation of an internationally recognized supply chain. Prior to his current appointment, he was a consultant with CSC Healthcare. Mr. Sock earned his MBA, as well as degrees in engineering and public policy, from Washington University in St. Louis. Eddie Soler. CFO of the Florida Division of Adventist Health System (Altamonte Springs). As CFO of Adventist Health System's Florida Division, Mr. Soler has oversight over three Florida markets — east, central and west — that include 26 hospitals. He previously served as Florida Hospital's CFO, CIO, and as senior vice president and CFO of Adventist Health System's Midwest Region. Mr. Soler earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tenn., and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Anthony "Tony" Speranzo. Executive Vice President and CFO of Ascension (St. Louis). Part of Ascension since 2002, Mr. Speranzo has more than three decades of experience leading financial activities and investments for health systems. He was previously senior vice president and CFO of St. Louis-based Ascension Health. He also was managing director with U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray, now Piper Jaffray, an investment bank and asset management firm. Mr. Speranzo spent 11 years as senior vice president and CFO of St. Joseph Health System in Orange, Calif., before he went into banking. Bernadette Spong. CFO of Orlando (Fla.) Health. Ms. Spong took over as CFO of Orlando Health in 2015. She transitioned to Orlando Health from her former role as senior vice president of finance and CFO of network hospitals for Chapel Hill-based University of North Carolina Health Care. Ms. Spong has a master's degree in business administration from Elon (N.C.) University's Martha and Spencer Love School of Business. Paul Staton. CFO of UCLA Health System (Los Angeles). Mr. Staton has served as CFO of UCLA Health System since 2004. A certified public accountant, he previously was controller for the hospital system. Overall, Mr. Staton has more than 28 years of experience in healthcare finance working for various hospital organizations in Southern California. Alan Strauss. Senior Vice President and CFO of Seton Healthcare Family (Austin, Texas). Mr. Strauss serves as CFO of the Seton Healthcare Family, a member of St. Louis-based Ascension, as well as CFO of Ascension's Texas Ministry. A certified public accountant, he joined Seton Healthcare Family in 2014 and was named to his Texas Ministry position with Ascension in May 2015. Prior to working at Seton, Mr. Strauss was CFO of Carondelet Health Network, an Ascension Health ministry in Tucson, Ariz. J. Dean Swindle, President of Enterprise Business Lines and CFO of Catholic Health Initiatives (Englewood, Colo.). Mr. Swindle has worked for CHI since May 2010. Before then, he worked in various executive positions with Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health, including senior vice president of finance; executive vice president and CFO; and president of ambulatory services and CFO. Previously, Mr. Swindle was CEO of Concord Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La., and vice president of financial services at General Health System in Baton Rouge. Michael Szubski. CFO of University Hospitals (Cleveland). Mr. Szubski first joined University Hospitals' financial team in 2003, as CFO of UH Case Medical Center in Cleveland. He later was COO of UH's acute care hospitals. Prior to joining University Hospitals, Mr. Szubski was executive vice president and CFO of EMH Regional Healthcare System, based in Elyria, Ohio, and vice president of operations at UnitedHealthcare of Ohio. J. Britton Tabor. Senior Vice President and CFO of Erlanger Health System (Chattanooga, Tenn.). Mr. Tabor has a history with Erlanger that spans nearly three decades, and he currently serves as the system's senior vice president and CFO. Prior to Erlanger, Mr. Tabor was an auditor for Chattanooga-based accounting firm Hazlett, Lewis & Bieter, which has since joined Mauldin & Jenkins in Atlanta. A certified public accountant, Mr. Tabor is a member of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity, American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Vincent Tammaro. Executive Vice President and CFO of Yale- New Haven (Conn.) Health System and CFO of Yale New Haven Hospital. Mr. Tammaro was appointed to his current position in April, but he is no stranger to YNHHS. He started his career at YNHHS in 2002 as director of financial reporting and earned the promotion to senior vice president of corporate finance in 2012. During tenure at YNHHS, Mr. Tammaro has been a big part of initiatives such as YNHHS' acquisition and integration of the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven. Jeff Taylor. Senior Vice President and CFO of St. Luke's Health System (Boise, Idaho). Mr. Taylor has been at St. Luke's since 1994, when he was hired as the director of finance. He took on the role of system CFO in 2008. Mr. Taylor has more than 20 years of healthcare financial leadership experience. A certified public accountant, he previously worked at Ernst & Whinney and Deloitte.
