Dr. Saccocio joined Bon Secours St. Francis in 2010 as CMO of Danville (Va.) Regional Medical Center. She was also associate director of the Floyd Family Medicine Residency Program in Rome, Ga. Dr. Saccocio is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and holds faculty appointments with the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Va., and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, among others. Kenneth Sands, MD. Senior Vice Pres- ident of Healthcare Quality and Chief Quality Officer of Beth Israel Deacon- ess Medical Center (Boston). As senior vice president of healthcare quality and chief quality officer of BIDMC, Dr. Sands directs the Silverman Institute for Health Care Quality and Safety. He was a founding member of a curriculum on quality improvement that is now a core requirement for residents in the Harvard Medical School department of medicine, where he is an associate professor of medicine. Ihor Sawczuk, MD. Executive Vice Pres- ident and CMO for Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center. Dr. Sawczuk came to HackensackUMC in 2001 as chair of the de- partment of urology from his prior position on the medical staff at Columbia University's Col- lege of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. In his more than 25 years in healthcare, Dr. Sawczuk has received numerous awards, including recognition from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the New York Academy of Medicine and the American Heart Associa- tion. On April 4, Dr. Sawczuk will transition to become president of HackensackUMC. Angela Scioscia, MD. CMO of UCSD Health System (San Diego, Calif.). Before she was named CMO of UCSD Health System in 2004, Dr. Scioscia was a system fac- ulty member for 15 years. She was director of UCSD Health's Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center for 15 years and is a member of the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the American College of Obstetricians and Gyne- cologists, among other professional societies. Morris Seligman, MD. Executive Vice President and CMO of Mountain States Health Alliance (Johnson City, Tenn.). In addition to his role as executive vice president and CMO of Mountain States Health Alliance, which he began in 2010, Dr. Seligman is a board member of the Mountain States Medical Group, Appalachian Emergency Physicians and the Tennessee Hospital Association. He is also co-chair of MSHA's Information Governance Technology Committee. He is former chair of the Quality and Patient Safety Committee for the Tennessee Society of Chief Medical Officers. M. Michael Shabot, MD. CMO of Me- morial Hermann Healthcare System (Houston). In addition to serving as CMO of Memorial Hermann Healthcare, Dr. Shabot serves as chairman of the board of the Memo- rial Hermann accountable care organization and on the board of the Quality Committee of the Mercy System in St. Louis. He is an adjunct professor with the University of Texas in Hous- ton and served as medical director of enter- prise information services, director of surgical intensive care and associate director of surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Steven Shapiro, MD. Executive Vice President and Chief Medical and Scientific Officer of UPMC. Prior to being named chief medical and scientific officer of UPMC in 2010, Dr. Shapiro was a professor and chair of the system's department of medi- cine. Before joining UPMC, he was a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, Mass., and chief of the division of pulmonary and critical care at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Dr. Shap- iro served on the advisory committee on the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and is currently a member of the Food and Drug Administration's Pulmonary-Allergy Drugs Advisory Committee. Angelo Sinopoli, MD. Vice President of Clinical Integration and CMO of Greenville (S.C.) Health System. Dr. Sinopoli joined Greenville Health System as a resident in 1982 and returned as a pulmonary critical care faculty member five years later. He was chair of the organization's department of medicine until 2013, and since being named to his current position, is working to develop Greenville Health's first regional clinical inte- gration network. Dr. Sinopoli holds a faculty appointment with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Lynda Smirz, MD. Vice President and CMO of Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.). Prior to joining Universal Health Services as CMO in 2013, Dr. Smirz was vice president of surgical services and CMO for IU Health North Hospital Carmel, part of the Indiana University Health network in Indianapolis. She was in private practice as an OB/GYN for 25 years. Greg Thompson, MD. CMO and Direc- tor of Medical Education of Gunder- sen Health System (La Crosse, Wis.). Dr. ompson has practiced pulmonary and critical care medicine with Gundersen Health System for more than 22 years. In addition to his role as CMO, which he took on in 2013, he is on the Gundersen Lutheran board of gover- nors and is the designated institutional official for graduate medical education. Douglas Towriss, MD. Vice President and CMO of Schneck Medical Center (Seymour, Ind.). In addition to serving as vice president and CMO of Schneck Medical Center, Dr. Towriss also serves as medical director of Schneck's hospitalist program. He joined the hospital in 2002 and is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Society of Internal Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Thomas Trinchetto, MD. CMO of Doctors Hospital of Sarasota (Fla.). Dr. Trinchetto was appointed CMO of Doctors Hospital of Sarasota in 2014. He has held a number of leadership positions with the orga- nization, including chief of staff and chief of medicine. He has also served as medical direc- tor of emergency services and chief of medicine at Fisherman's Hospital in Marathon, Fla. Jonathon D. Truwit, MD. Enterprise CMO of Froedtert Health and the Med- ical College of Wisconsin (Milwaukee). In addition to serving as enterprise CMO for Froedtert Health and the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Truwit is a tenured professor of pulmonary medicine at the college. He came to Froedtert Health from University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, where he was a tenured professor of medicine, CMO and associate dean for clinical affairs. Robert Underwood, MD. CMO of St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center (Pueblo, Colo.). Dr. Underwood became CMO of St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center in September 2015. His prior administrative roles include medical director for Sentara RMH Medical Center's regional population health initiative in the Shenandoah Valley, and director of clinical transformation and chief medical in- formatics officer for Sentara in Harrisonburg, Va. Dr. Underwood continues to practice in the medical center's emergency department. Bruce Vanderhoff, MD. CMO of Ohio- Health (Columbus). Prior to joining Ohio- Health in 1996 and being named senior vice president and CMO in 2008, Dr. Vanderhoff was in private practice in Akron, Ohio. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine, a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a clinical professor of family medicine at Ohio University in Athens and an adjunct professor of family medicine at e Ohio State University in Columbus. Brent E. Wallace, MD. CMO of Inter- mountain Healthcare (Salt Lake City). As CMO of Intermountain Healthcare, Dr. Wallace co-leads the hospital-based clinical programs and organizational structure for clinical quality improvement with the system CNO.
