100 Sue Shelley (Surgical Partners of America). Ms. Shelley is the manager for Surgical Partners of America. She is also a partner and founder of Surgical Partners of America, which was founded in Texas in 2002. Surgical Partners presently operates 100 surgical centers across 27 states aer its acquisition of Symbion for $792 million. Ms. Shelley previously co-founded United Surgi- cal Partners International in 1998, where she served as the executive vice president until 2002. She obtained her masters degree in healthcare adminis- tration from Duke University in Durham, N.C. Barry Tanner (Physicians Endoscopy). Mr. Tanner is the CEO of Physicians Endoscopy. Physicians Endoscopy owns and operates more than 35 endo- scopic ASCs across the United States. He joined the company in July 1999 and co-authored the company's business plan with CFO Karen Sablyak. He additionally is a professor in healthcare at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Pedro Juan Vergne-Morell (PCI | HealthDev). Mr. Vergne-Morell is the CEO and board member of PCI | Health Dev and has more than 17 years of experience in operations, product, services and marketing. Mr. Vergne- Morell has worked with both technology startups, including InfoSpace and Good Technology, as well as Fortune 100 companies such as Verizon Com- munications. In addition, he is also is a board member at Caduceus Medical Holdings as well as PVM Consulting. Mr. Vergne-Morell obtained his MBA in marketing and finance from the University of Texas in Dallas. Terry Weisman (Denovo Development). Mr. Weisman is the CEO and president of Denovo Development, a company engaging in the ground-up development of surgical centers. He previously was director of business de- velopment for Specialty Surgical Center where he developed six surgical cen- ters in Southern California. He started Denovo Development aer Specialty Surgical Center was sold to Symbion, and he currently develops new surgi- cal centers, locates surgery centers for those physicians interested in facilities and consults with existing facilities to enhance efficiency and profits. William Wilcox (United Surgical Partners International). Mr. Wilcox has served as USPI's president and director since 1998. He has also served as CEO since April 2004. Before joining USPI, he was the president and CEO of United Dental Care. Mr. Wilcox also is on the board of directors for USPI. He obtained his master's degree in health systems management from Tulane University in New Orleans. Mr. Wilcox continues to serve as CEO of USPI, following the company's acquisition by Tenet Healthcare. John C. Wilson Jr. (Meridian Surgical Partners). Mr. Wilson is CEO and CFO of Meridian Surgical Partners. Meridian Surgical Partners is part- nered with 10 physician-owned ASCs across the United States. e com- pany specializes in acquisition, development and management of spine and orthopedic-driven ambulatory surgery centers. Mr. Wilson previously was the CEO of Xtensia, a revenue cycle management company. He also previ- ously served as the executive vice president of finance and operations of Working RX, a worker's compensation pharmacy services company. Mr. Wilson obtained his master's in professional accountancy from Mississippi State University in Starkville. Tom Yerden (TRY Health Care Solutions). Mr. Yerden is the CEO of TRY Health Care Solutions. He founded the company in 2005. He also founded Aspen Healthcare in 1992, where he also served as president and CEO. He has more than 28 years of experience in the ambulatory surgery center in- dustry and has played an integral role in the development of 70 surgery centers. Mr. Yerden earned his master's degree in public health from UCLA in California. Joseph Zasa, JD (ASD Management). Mr. Zasa is the co-founder and managing partner of ASD Management, a company that operates 29 ASCs throughout the United States. ASD management has developed more than 125 surgery centers since it was founded in 1986. Mr. Zasa previously was corporate counsel for Premier Ambulatory Systems where he focused on ac- quisitions and physician development. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Washington and Lee University Law School in Lexington, Va., and has been since honored with election to the Law School Council. Robert Zasa (ASD Management). Mr. Zasa is a founder and managing part- ner of ASD management. He has experience in ambulatory business devel- opment, management, expansion, acquisition ownership and marketing. He additionally founded Premier Ambulatory Systems, which accumulated $25 million in earnings and operated 15 ASCs when he was a CEO. Mr. Zasa founded Ambulatory System Development in 1996, which was reorganized in 2009 to become ASD Management. ASD has grown to become one of the most successful private ASC firms in the nation. J.A. Ziskind, JD (Global Surgical Partners). Mr. Ziskind founded Global Surgical Partners with Kenneth Arvin, and he serves as the company's presi- dent and CEO. Mr. Ziskind is a healthcare attorney and has been involved in Florida's healthcare industry for the last 35 years. He is a co-founder of the Florida Society of Ambulatory Surgical Center.
