Perry County Memorial Hospital was founded in 1951 and operates under the motto of "people care more here." e hospital, located about 80 miles south of St. Louis near the Illinois border, will soon undergo a growth spurt, as it recently received authorization to expand and renovate its medical office and retail pharmacy. In 2015, for the first time, PCMH was named to iVantage Health Analytics' list of Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals. Also this year, the hospital earned a spot on the National Rural Health Associa- tion's Top 20 Critical Access Hospital listing. Phillips County Hospital (Malta, Mont.). Phillips County Hospital sits in a community of 2,000 people in northeast Montana, about 200 miles from both Billings and Great Falls, Mont. e hospital and its clinic underwent a $4.4 million remodel in 2004, and the campus boasts assisted living and nursing home services. e small-town hospital has earned national recognition, as iVantage Health Analytics named it to the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals list this year, and the National Rural Health Association recognized it as a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital in 2015 as well. Pike County Memorial Hospital (Louisiana, Mo.). Pike County Memorial Hospital has served its name- sake county since 1928. Located roughly 95 miles up the Mississippi River from St. Louis, PCMH operates the Pike County area's ambulance service and pro- vides numerous specialty services. In the last two years, the hospital's patient care unit and outpatient and surgery departments were completely renovated. In 2015, PCMH was named a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital by iVantage Health Analytics and as a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital by the National Rural Health Association. Providence Hood River (Ore.) Memorial Hospi- tal. Located about 60 miles east of Portland, Ore., Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital serves a five-county area in the Columbia River gorge. Not only did iVantage Health Analytics recognize Provi- dence Hood River as one of the Top 100 Critical Ac- cess Hospitals in the nation this year, it is in another unique group of critical access hospitals: Providence Hood River is one of just nine critical access hospitals in the nation with a teaching program, according to American Hospital Directory. Shenandoah (Iowa) Medical Center. Shenandoah Medical Center got its start in 1911 with a $25,000 donation to construct a hospital. at hospital opened in 1918 as Hand Hospital, named aer its benefactors, Catherine and Henry Hand. It would not become Shenandoah Medical Center until the 2000s. e hos- pital, located roughly 60 miles from Omaha, Neb., has an affiliation with Omaha-based Nebraska Medical Center. Sparrow Clinton Hospital (St. Johns, Mich.). Spar- row Clinton Hospital is part of Lansing, Mich.-based Sparrow Health System. e hospital is located in the middle of the state, about 75 miles east of Grand Rapids, Mich., and 100 miles northwest of Detroit. e hospital is financially healthy, as the National Ru- ral Health Association named it as a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital for financial stability this year. Addi- tionally, iVantage Health Analytics named it as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital in the nation this year. e hospital has also earned the Outstanding Patient Experience Award from Healthgrades twice, most recently in 2014. Speare Memorial Hospital (Plymouth, N.H.). Speare Memorial Hospital, located in the heart of New Hampshire, has welcomed patients since it opened in 1899. It underwent a major renovation and grand reopening in November 2006. Since then, the hospital has earned a bevy of awards and recognitions for ex- cellence. For example, the hospital has been named as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital by iVantage Health Analytics for five consecutive years, including in 2015.
