Avera Holy Family Hospital (Estherville, Iowa). Avera Holy Family Hospital's history dates back to 1944. In 2002, the hospital completed a major building enhancement project that added private inpatient rooms, special care unit beds, operating rooms, same-day surgery facilities and an emergency services department. e hospital also built a new lab in 2008. Avera Holy Family was named as one of the National Rural Health Association's Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals this year. Additionally, the hospital has landed on iVantage Health Analytics' Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals list each year since the list was created five years ago. Barrett Memorial Hospital (Dillon, Mont.). While the hospital has served its community since 1922, this year it is celebrating its three-year anniversary of moving into a new, 83,000-square-foot facility that is LEED Gold certified. Boone County Health Center offers healthcare ser- vices for the 10,000 residents in the rural north cen- tral Nebraska counties of Boone, Antelope, Greeley, western Madison, Nance and Wheeler. Providers at the hospital perform 60,000 procedures annually, and the hospital serves as the hub of five medical clinics in surrounding towns. BCHC is the largest employer in the area. iVantage Health Analytics has named it as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital three times, most recently in 2015, and Healthgrades gave the hospital its Outstanding Patient Experience Award this year as well. Brodstone Memorial Hospital (Superior, Neb.). In 1928, Evelyn Brodstone Vestey and her brother Lewis donated funds to the city of Superior to build a hospital in memory of their mother Mathilde. e hospital has grown since then, and now includes an attached clinic and a rural medical clinic in nearby Nelson, Neb. Patients tend to rate Brodstone Memo- rial Hospital highly on their HCAHPS scores, and as a result, the hospital has a four-star rating on CMS' Hospital Compare. Calumet Medical Center (Chilton, Wis.). Calu- met Medical Center is part of Appleton, Wis.-based Affinity Health System. e only hospital in Calumet County, Calumet Medical Center has served not only the people of its home county but also of three surrounding counties since 1956. Its campus not only includes a hospital but also a daycare and preschool. In addition to being a 2015 Top 100 Critical Access Hospital according to iVantage Health Analytics, the hospital also earned a five-star rating on CMS' Hos- pital Compare, based on patient responses to their HCAHPS surveys. Cherry County Hospital (Valentine, Neb.). Cherry County Hospital serves people from north central Nebraska and south central South Dakota, as it is sit- uated about 10 miles south of the South Dakota bor- der. Its history dates back to 1912 when it was known as Sandhills General Hospital. e rural hospital has recently earned national recognition for excellence — iVantage Health Analytics has named it as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital three times, most recently this year. Also in 2015, the National Rural Health Association named Cherry County Hospital as a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital.
