By Helen Adamopoulos Bundled payment models — which involve a set price intended to cover each element of clinical care or support for a specific pro- cedure or condition — could prove an effective way for the care providers to contain costs while improving quality. However, some healthcare industry stakeholders have raised concerns about a pos- sible downside to bundling payments: stifling innovation. As the healthcare industry transitions from fee-for-service to value-based payment models, a growing number of providers are exploring bundled payments.
