Glenn Steele, Jr., MD, PhD, announced plans to step down from his role as president and CEO of Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System next year, after which he will continue his work as chairman of Columbia, Md.-based xG Health Solutions. Houston Methodist announced Debbie Sukin as CEO of its new The Woodlands (Texas) Hospital. Maureen Tarrant was named president and CEO of HealthONE's Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Chil- dren, both in Denver. Houston-based Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital named Wesley Tidwell as COO. Susan L. Turney, MD, president and CEO of the Medical Group Management Association, stepped down to become CEO of Marshfield Clinic Health System, a newly formed system in Marshfield, Wis. Louise Urban was named president and CEO of Jefferson Hospital in Pittsburgh, part of the Pitts- burgh-based Allegheny Health Network. Sarasota (Fla.) Memorial Hospital named David Verinder permanent CEO Harry Weis, CEO of Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, Calif., left his position to pursue other healthcare career opportunities. T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Ky., named Bud Wethington CEO. Doctors Hospital of Sarasota (Fla.) named Steve Young as COO. Beaumont Health System in Royal Oak, Mich., Botsford Health Care in Farmington Hills, Mich., and Oakwood Healthcare in Dearborn, Mich., reached a definitive agreement to combine their op- erations into a $3.8 billion healthcare organization. Carondelet Health Network, based in Tucson, Ariz., and its parent company, St. Louis-based Ascension Health, signed a nonbinding letter of intent with San Francisco-based Dignity Health and a subsidiary of Dallas-based Tenet Health- care Corp. to create a joint venture. Lynchburg, Va.-based Centra Health took full ownership of Bedford (Va.) Memorial Hospital for $12 million. CharterCare Health Partners, a nonprofit health system, announced a partnership with Santa Ana, Calif.-based for-profit Prospect Medical Holdings. Community Health Systems, based in Franklin, Tenn., and Natchez (Miss.) Regional Medical Center signed a definitive agreement allowing CHS to acquire all of Natchez Regional's assets. The board of District One Hospital in Faribault, Minn., voted unanimously to approve an affilia- tion agreement with Allina Health, headquar- tered in Minneapolis. Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System and Camp Hill, Pa.-based Holy Spirit Health System signed a definitive agreement for Holy Spirit to become an affiliate of Geisinger. The board of Atlanta-based home health and hos- pice services provider Gentiva Health Services turned down an unsolicited takeover offer from Kindred Healthcare, a post-acute care services provider based in Louisville, Ky. The boards of Greenville (S.C.) Health System and Seneca, S.C.-based Oconee Medical Center approved a binding agreement that makes OMC part of GHS integrated health system. Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Health and Win- chester (Mass.) Hospital made their partnership official after an extensive review of the proposed affiliation by the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission. Bronxville, N.Y.-based Lawrence Hospital and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City announced a new partnership aimed at en- hancing care, improving access and lowering healthcare costs for residents of Bronxville and surrounding counties in Westchester County.
