Prime Healthcare Services, an Ontario, Calif.-
based for-profit hospital operator, completed its
deal to purchase Landmark Medical Center in
Woonsocket, R.I. Additionally, New Jersey's two
primary healthcare regulatory bodies — the at-
torney general's office and health department
— approved Prime's application to acquire St.
Mary's Hospital in Passaic, N.J.
Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, Minn.,
assumed the operations of Sibley Medical Center
from Arlington, Minn.
Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford
and Goodall Hospital in Sanford, Maine, com-
pleted their merger and became Biddeford-based
Southern Maine Health Care.
Appleton, Wis.-based ThedaCare and Berlin,
Wis.-based Community Health Network signed
a letter of intent to affiliate.
UnityPoint Health–Finley Hospital in Dubuque,
Iowa, and Guttenberg (Iowa) Municipal Hospi-
tal signed an agreement that would make GMH a
UnityPoint affiliate.
Regulatory officials approved the affiliation between
West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health
and Madison, Wis.-based Meriter Health Services.
Cleveland-based University Hospitals received
approval from state and federal regulators to car-
ry out two separate mergers with 332-bed Parma
(Ohio) Community General Hospital and EMH
Healthcare in Elyria, Ohio. UH also signed a let-
ter of intent to acquire Robinson Memorial Hos-
pital in Ravenna, Ohio.
