Spring View Hospital in Lebanon, Ky., selected Timothy Trottier as CEO. Kent Wallace, CEO of Brentwood, Tenn.-based RegionalCare Hospital Partners, announced his resignation. George Zara, president and CEO of Columbia, S.C.-based Providence Hospitals, announced his retirement. Hospital & Health System Executive Moves Akron (Ohio) General Health System ended exclusive negotiations with Cleveland Clinic and Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems on a proposed joint venture transaction. Amery (Wis.) Regional Medical Center joined Bloomington, Minn.-based HealthPartners. Phoenix-based Banner Health signed a deal to acquire Casa Grande (Ariz.) Regional Medical Center. Brooklyn Hospital Center, a safety-net hospital two miles away from Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., partnered with a private equity firm to make a bid to buy the struggling LICH and close it as a full-service hospital. Carson Tahoe Health, based in Carson City, Nev., formed a partnership with Salt Lake City-based University of Utah Health Care. Two major Houston-based providers within Englewood, Colo.-based Catho- lic Health Initiatives — CHI St. Luke's Health and the Texas Heart Institute — expanded their affiliations with the Baylor College of Medicine in Hous- ton as part of a campus redesign. Catholic Health Initiatives signed a nonbinding letter of intent to assume ownership of Memorial Health System of East Texas, based in Lufkin. Chilton Hospital in Pompton Plains, N.J., completed its merger with Atlan- tic Health System, based in Morristown, N.J. Brentwood, Tenn.-based Duke LifePoint Healthcare and Wilson (N.C.) Medical Center signed a definitive agreement to form a joint venture. Shareholders of Health Management Associates approved the deal in which Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems will acquire the Naples, Fla.-based hospital chain. Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America signed a definitive agreement with Capella Healthcare in Franklin, Tenn., to acquire Grand- view Medical Center in Jasper, Tenn. Memorial Health System and Southern Illinois University HealthCare, both based in Springfield, Ill., formed a new partnership focused on improv- ing healthcare access, quality, safety and outcomes. Memorial Hospital in Fremont, Ohio, became an affiliate with Toledo, Ohio- based ProMedica. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City filed a certificate of need with the state to completely absorb Lawrence Hospital Center in Bronxville, N.Y. North Shore-LIJ Health System in Great Neck, N.Y., and Boca Raton (Fla.) Regional Hospital — two providers situated more than 1,000 miles apart — signed a three-year affiliation agreement. Orlando (Fla.) Health and University of Florida Health in Gainesville part- nered to create a comprehensive cancer care program Paris (Texas) Regional Medical Center signed an affiliation agreement with Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health. Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Ill., agreed to affiliate with Memo- rial Health System, based in Springfield, Ill. Hospital & Health System Transactions
