Nonprofit Yuma (Ariz.) Regional Medical Center will not move ahead with an affilia- tion with Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health and said it will explore other options to better meet the needs of the community. CentraState Healthcare System, a single- hospital system based in Freehold, N.J., finalized its agreement to join Atlantic Health System, a seven-hospital system based in Morristown, N.J. Arcadia-based Methodist Hospital of South- ern California is seeking approval to join Los Angeles-based Keck Medicine of USC. Lexington, Ky.-based Appalachian Regional Healthcare finalized its acquisition of Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville, Ky., making it the 14th hospital in the system. Johnson City, Tenn.-based Ballad Health pur- chased the remaining 20 percent ownership of Marion, Va.-based Smyth County Communi- ty Hospital for $33.7 million from the Smyth County Community Foundation. Day Kimball Healthcare, a health system based in Putnam, Conn., inked an agreement to explore joining Tewksbury, Mass.-based Covenant Health. Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health is in discussions to negotiate an affiliation agree- ment to transfer ownership of 14 Midwest hospitals, according to financial documents released Nov. 16. Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare and one of its subsidiaries have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Towson, Md.-based SurgCenter Development in a $1.2 billion deal. Schenectady, N.Y.-based Ellis Medicine and Albany, N.Y.-based St. Peter's Health Partners received approval from the New York State Department of Health to enter a management services agreement. Cincinnati Children's is expanding into northern Kentucky by acquiring River Hills Pediatrics, a physician practice that has offices in Alexandria, Southgate and Florence. Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare finalized its deal to sell 47 Brookdale Health Care Services agencies to Lafayette, La.-based LHC Group. Grant Memorial Hospital, a 25-bed hospital in Petersburg, W.Va., inked a letter of intent to join the West Virginia University Health System in Morgantown. Kearney (Neb.) Regional Medical Center is exploring a deal to join Lincoln, Neb.-based Bryan Health. Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health and Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Health- care will establish a new healthcare company with 79 hospital campuses when their deal is complete, the companies said Oct. 26. Wauwatosa, Wis.-based Froedtert Health acquired an 80 percent controlling inter- est of Manitowoc, Wis.-based Holy Family Memorial for $29.9 million. Princeton (W.Va.)
