Services provided at Shields Surgery Center include orthopedic surgery; ear, nose, and throat; and gastrointestinal care. Quincy, Mass.-based Shields Health Care Group, MelroseWakefield Healthcare in Melrose and Boston-based Tus Medical Center Physicians Organization are partners in the surgery center. Surgeons operating at the ASC practice with ENT Consultants in Woburn; Agility Or- thopedics, Tus; Newton-based Atrius Health; Excel Orthopedics in Woburn; Pratt Or- thopedics in Boston; and Pratt ENT of Boston-based Tus New England Medical Center. "Collaborations such as this one with MelroseWakefield Healthcare and our physician partners are critical to ensure that members of the community have access to exceptional care at an affordable price," Peter Ferrari, Shields Health Care Group president, told the publication. More than 30 full-time employees will staff the ASC in its first year of operation, accord- ing to the report. n 6 physicians invest in upcoming spine- focused surgery center in Tennessee By Carly Behm A medical building with a spine-focused surgery center is under construction in Chattanooga, Tenn., the Chat- tanooga Time Free Press reported Aug. 5. Riverfront Surgery Center will have four operating rooms. Six sur- geons, including three orthopedic surgeons, a spine surgeon and a neurosurgeon are investors in the surgery center. The two-story surgery center will sit on a 2.5 acre site. It's expected to open in the fall. n
