Executive Vice President and Chief Clini- cal Officer of Ascension (St. Louis). As chief clinical officer of As- cension, Dr. Pryor works with 40,000-plus aligned physicians and care providers to consistently deliver quality care. Dr. Prior also provides se- nior leadership for the Ascension Clinical Research Initiative. His pre- vious roles include serving as Ascension Health's CMO and senior vice president and CIO of Minneapolis-based Allina Health System. In 2014, Dr. Pryor spearheaded a standardized practice management approach across Ascension's 141 hospitals and 2,500 sites of care. In addition to his leadership role at Ascension, he is an associate professor of medicine for Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Medical Center and serves on the board of commissioners for The Joint Commission. Jan Schwarz-Miller, MD. Senior Vice President and Chief Medical and Academic Officer of Atlantic Health System (Morristown, N.J.). Dr. Schwarz-Miller has served as senior vice pres- ident and chief medical and academic officer of Atlantic Health System for five years, a promotion from her previous position as vice president of quality and CMO of the health system. Over her two decades at Atlantic Health System, she has supervised systemwide departments, including occupational medicine service and wellness and infection prevention. She helped lead the health system into an agreement with Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, which will establish a branch campus at its hospitals in Morristown, N.J., and Summit, N.J., in July 2018. James Raczek, MD. CMO of UPMC Pinnacle (Harrisburg, Pa.). Dr. Raczek assumed the CMO role at UPMC Pinnacle in December 2017, previously serving as senior vice president and CMO of Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He leads a medical staff of more than 2,900 physicians and allied healthcare professionals providing care at the health system's eight acute care hospitals. A fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, he has received several awards for his clinical work and his role as an educator and healthcare leader. He served in the United States Air Force prior to entering civilian medical practice. Roger A. Ray, MD. Executive Vice President and Chief Phy- sician Executive of Carolinas HealthCare System (Charlotte, N.C.). Dr. Ray oversees the Carolinas HealthCare System Medical Group, consisting of more than 2,500 physicians and providers practicing out of 500-plus locations systemwide. He is also responsible for leading the health system's CMOs, medical education, and research and systemwide care coordination efforts as the executive vice president and chief phy- sician executive. He joined Carolinas HealthCare System in 2007 after spending time as the chief quality officer for Clearwater, Fla.-based Bay- Care Health System and CMO of Clearwater-based Morton Plant Mease Healthcare. Norman Rizk, MD. CMO of Stanford (Calif.) Health Care. Dr. Rizk became the CMO of Stanford Health Care in 2011, responsible for overseeing the health system's clinical staff. He also serves as the senior associate dean for clinical affairs at the Stanford University School of Medicine, as well as medical director of the ICU and program director of the critical care medicine fellowship at Stanford University Health Sys- tem. Dr. Rizk has a long and illustrious career in medicine, practicing as a critical care and pulmonology physician. Daniel Roth, MD. Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer of Trinity Health (Livonia, Mich.). Prior to serving as exec- utive vice president and chief clinical officer at Trinity Health, Dr. Roth was CMO and COO of Trinity Health Partners, supporting the alterna- tive payment models strategy. He arrived at Trinity Health after serving as CMO of Cincinnati-based Mercy Health. In his current role, Dr. Roth oversees clinical care for the 93-hospital health system, which includes around 7,500 employed physicians and clinicians as well as 25,600 af- filiated physicians. An internal medicine physician, he is a member of the American College of Physicians and American College of Physician Executives. He has also served on the board of trustees for Mercy Health Select, a clinically integrated network, and the board of CHP Insurance. Lee Sacks, MD. Executive Vice President and CMO of Advo- cate Health Care (Downers Grove, Ill.). In addition to his role as executive vice president and CMO of Advocate Health Care, Dr. Sacks is the CEO of Advocate Physician Partners. He oversees the 12-hosptial health system's 6,300 affiliated physicians and 11,000 nurses. Advocate includes around 400 sites of care in the Chicagoland area. As a family practice physician, Dr. Sacks previously served as the president of the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians and the American Hospital Asso- ciation Committee. Jan Schwarz-Miller, MD. Angela Scioscia, MD. CMO of UC San Diego Health System. Dr. Scioscia joined the UC San Diego faculty in 1989 and was promoted to CMO of UC San Diego Health in 2004. She is responsible for ensuring patient safety and quality standards are met systemwide. She oversees the medical staff for the 390-bed UC San Diego Medical Center as well as the health system's 364-bed Jacobs Medical Center and additional specialty centers. UC San Diego Health has around 1,500 faculty members and 2,800 students, post-docs, residents and fellows. An OB-GYN physician, Dr. Scioscia served as the director of UC San Diego Health's Fetal Di- agnosis and Treatment Center for 15 years before taking on her current role. M. Michael Shabot, MD. CMO of Memorial Hermann Health System (Houston). As the CMO of Memorial Hermann Health Sys- tem, Dr. Shabot is responsible for a medical staff of more than 5,500 phy- sicians. Under his leadership, the health system has completed initiatives to eliminate healthcare hazards, including hospital-acquired infections, and promoted transparency by posting quality results online. A general surgeon, Dr. Shabot has a keen interest in providing specialized tools and advanced technology supported by evidence-based research for the medical staff. Steven Shapiro, MD. Executive Vice President and Chief Medical and Scientific Officer of UPMC (Pittsburgh). Dr. Ste- ven Shapiro is president of UPMC's health services division as well as executive vice president and chief medical and scientific officer for the more than 30-hospital health system. Dr. Shapiro's staff consists of more than 4,000 employed physicians who work in collaboration with the Uni- versity of Pittsburgh Schools of Health Science and UPMC Insurance Services Division to promote evidence-based care pathways and popu- lation health models to provide value-based care to patients. Dr. Shapiro chaired UPMC's department of medicine before being promoted to chief medical and scientific officer in 2010. Adhi Sharma, MD. Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and CMO of South Nassau Communities Hospital (Oceans- ide, N.Y.). Dr. Sharma is responsible for South Nassau Communities Hospital's medical affairs office and serves as the administrative liaison to the hospital's medical staff.
