13 David Moorhead, MD. Senior Vice President and CMO of Florida Hospital (Orlando). Dr. Moorhead oversees the medical staff at Florida Hospital, a 2,100-bed, seven-hospital health system, as senior vice president and CMO. He has previous experience as CEO of Loma Linda (Calif.) University Medical Center and contributed to the estab- lishment of the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital before join- ing Florida Hospital in 2006. Dr. Moorhead is a member of the American College of Physician Executives and spent time as the executive director of medical and clinical operations for King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Saudi Arabia. William Neff, MD. CMO of UCHealth (Aurora, Colo.). As CMO of UCHealth, Dr. Neff oversees quality and safety initiatives as well as clinical standardization across the health system's nine hospitals, 100- plus clinics and three affiliated hospitals. During his tenure, he has worked to expand access to clinical trials to the health system's com- munity hospitals in addition to the large academic medical centers. Dr. Neff previously served as interim president and CEO of UCHealth and CMO for the Poudre Valley Health System in Fort Collins, Colo., now a member of UCHealth. Scott Nygaard, MD. CMO of Lee Health (Fort Myers, Fla.). Dr. Nygaard joined Lee Memorial Health System in 2010 after spending time as senior vice president for corporate services at Wichita, Kan.-based Via Christi Health System. He also has experience as CMO of Apple- ton, Wis.-based Affinity Health System's 230-member Affinity Medical Group. In his current role as CMO for Lee Health, Dr. Nygaard oversees the 560-provider Lee Physician Group as well as the health system's qual- ity and patient safety initiatives. Dr. Nygaard also oversees the system's managed care strategy. Brian Parker, MD. Chief Medical and Quality Officer of Al- legheny Health Network (Pittsburgh). Dr. Parker spent two de- cades at Cleveland Clinic before joining Allegheny Health Network as chief medical and quality officer in early 2017. Over the course of his career, Dr. Parker has gained experience leading efforts in quality, patient safety, risk management, patient experience and hospital operations, among other areas. In his current role, Dr. Parker leads a team of around 1,700 physicians for the seven-hospital health system. Paryus Patel, MD. CMO of Prime Healthcare Division II (On- tario, Calif.). Dr. Patel serves as the CMO of Prime Healthcare's Divi- sion II, covering the health system's hospitals east of Nevada. With more than 25 years of clinical practice in internal medicine, pulmonology and critical care, Dr. Patel brings a huge amount of experience working with patients to his current role. Dr. Patel is also the CMO of Centinela Hos- pital Medical Center in Inglewood, Calif., where he sits on the board and serves as chairman of clinical quality and performance. Maria D. Padin, MD. CMO of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Med- ical Center (Lebanon, N.H.). Dr. Padin became CMO of Dart- mouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in November 2015, responsible for clinical and physician-related issues for the academic medical center. An OB/GYN, Dr. Padin joined Dartmouth-Hitchcock in 1997 and was pro- moted to chair of the obstetrics and gynecology department before be- coming the medical director for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Concord in 2010. In her current role, Dr. Padin champions efforts to apply system policies related to physicians at the hospital and works with other chief clinical executives to address any quality and accreditation issues. Carlos Pellegrini, MD. CMO of UW Medicine and Vice Pres- ident for Medical Affairs of the University of Washington (Seattle). In December 2015, UW Medicine named Dr. Pellegrini the health system's first CMO, responsible for providing executive leadership and strategic guidance for integrating clinical practice with the health system's education and research activities. He also oversees efforts to transform clinical practice in accordance with the triple aim. A gastroin- testinal surgeon, Dr. Pellegrini developed a minimally invasive treatment for achalasia and performed the first surgery in 1991; since then, he has trained another generation of surgeons in the procedure. He served as The Henry N. Harkins Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery at UW Medicine from 1996 until 2015. Jonathan B. Perlin, MD, PhD. President of Clinical Services and CMO of Hospital Corporation of America (Nashville, Tenn.). Dr. Perlin is president of clinical services and CMO of HCA, overseeing clinical services and performance improvement for the health system's 177 hospitals and 1,000-plus outpatient facilities. He is responsi- ble for advancing EHR, driving value through data science and advanced analytics, and improving clinical performance and patient safety bench- marks. Dr. Perlin and his team completed a study in recent years demon- strating 44 percent improvement on known best practices for blood stream infection reduction. Prior to joining HCA, Dr. Perlin served as the undersecretary for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Robert Phillips, MD, PhD. Executive Vice President, CMO and Specialty Physician Group CEO of Houston Methodist. Dr. Phillips serves as the executive vice president and CMO of Houston Methodist as well as the president and CEO of Houston Methodist Phy- sician Organization. A cardiologist, Dr. Phillips continues to serve as a professor of cardiology at the Houston Methodist Institute for Academic Medicine. In his current role, Dr. Phillips works with clinical and ad- ministrative leaders to promote patient safety, implement innovations in the practice of medicine, and respond to changes in the healthcare sys- tem, including new payment models. He also oversees efforts to evaluate healthcare delivery redesign and improve the patient experience. John Popovich Jr., MD. Executive Vice President and CMO of Henry Ford Health System and President and CEO of Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit). Dr. Popovich joined Henry Ford Hospital as a senior staff physician in 1980 and after spending a 30-year career with the health system was promoted to his current role as executive vice president and CMO of Henry Ford Health and president and CEO of the 805-bed Henry Ford Hospital. Previously, he spent 10 years as the division head of pulmonary and critical care medicine and was named the senior vice president for clinical affairs in 2008. He has experience developing the Henry Ford Physician Network, where he serves as CEO and chairman of the board, and is a past chair of the American Board of Internal Medicine. Irving Prengler, MD. CMO of Baylor Scott & White Health- North Texas (Dallas). Dr. Prengler served as the vice president of medical affairs for Baylor Medical Center before Baylor merged with Scott & White Health in 2013 to become Baylor Scott & White, where he now serves as CMO of the North Texas region. The health system covers more than 5,500 active physicians at 1,000-plus patient care sites. An in- ternal medicine physician, Dr. Prengler has experience leading physician quality, peer review and patient safety efforts and is a member of the American College of Physicians. Marlon Priest, MD. Executive Vice President and CMO of Bon Secours Health System (Marriottsville, Md.). Dr. Priest joined Bon Secours Health System in 2006, and as executive vice president and CMO he leads efforts for clinical transformation. He has experience as senior associate chief of staff and chief quality officer for the University of Alabama at Birmingham's University Hospital and as medical direc- tor of the critical care transport department. He has more than 28 years of experience in healthcare and continues to hold internal medicine ad- mitting privileges with Bon Secours, a 19-acute care hospital nonprofit Catholic health system. Robert Probe, MD. Executive Vice President and CMO of Bay- lor Scott & White Health (Dallas). Dr. Probe is the executive vice president and CMO of Baylor Scott & White Health, a 5,500-physician health system. An orthopedic surgeon by training, Dr. Probe's practice focused on acute fractures and ankle injuries; he served as the president
