He also has experience as chief of staff at Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center and associate vice president for health affairs and associate vice dean at USC Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles. Despina G. Kayichian, MD. Vice President of Medical Affairs and Quality at Adventist Health Glendale (Burbank, Calif.). Dr. Kayichian served as chief medical director of Venice (Calif.) Family Clinic, a federally qualified health center, before taking on the vice pres- ident of medical affairs and quality role at Adventist Health Glendale. A nephrologist, she has previous experience serving as physician utiliza- tion medical director at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, Calif. She is a certified professional in healthcare quality by the National Association for Healthcare Quality. Michael D. Kelleher, MD. CMO of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Chil- dren's Hospital of Chicago. In addition to serving as CMO of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, Dr. Kelleher holds the Crown Family Professorship in Pediatrics and is an associate professor of pediatrics at Chicago-based Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. His research work has been published in numerous prestigious journals, including the American Journal of Physiology-Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society and the American Medical Informatics Association. James E. LaBelle, MD. Corporate Senior Vice President and CMO of Scripps Health (San Diego). Dr. LaBelle assumed his role as CMO of Scripps Health in 2013, responsible for maintaining and ex- panding the nonprofit health system's relationship with physicians. He oversees the system's efforts to engage physicians in managing inpatient and outpatient care, as well as linking hospitals with Scripps' growing outpatient network. He also leads the four-hospital system's hospitalist and intensivist programs as well as its medical directorships. An emer- gency medicine physician by training, Dr. LaBelle spent 25 years in clini- cal practice and two years as chief of staff for Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas (Calif.). Michael Langberg, MD. Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs and CMO of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Ange- les). Dr. Langberg leads Cedars-Sinai's patient safety and clinical qual- ity efforts as senior vice president of medical affairs and CMO. He also oversees bioethics, resource management and physician credentialing in addition to the health system's healthcare-acquired infection preven- tion and epidemiology efforts. A general internal medicine physician by training, Dr. Langberg has experience testifying before the U.S. Congress on patient safety and quality issues and has presented to the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Health Management Academy and National Patient Safety Congress. He is a past member of the California Hospital Association's Board of Trustees and serves as a permanent member of the California Department of Public Health's Healthcare-Associated Infec- tion Advisory Committee. Omar Lateef, DO. Senior Vice President of Clinical Affairs and CMO of Rush University Medical Center (Chicago). Rush Uni- versity Medical Center appointed Dr. Lateef CMO in 2015 after he served as associate chief medical officer for six years and senior vice chair of the department of medicine for around three years. A pulmonary and critical care medicine specialist, Dr. Lateef also has experience as program di- rector for the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship Program at Rush. In his current role, Dr. Lateef is responsible for designing, implementing and overseeing Rush's clinical quality, patient safety and performance improvement initiatives. Stephen Lockhart, MD, PhD. CMO of Sutter Health (Sacra- mento, Calif.). Dr. Lockhart, an anesthesiologist, brings 30-plus years of experience to his role as CMO of Sutter Health, a position he assumed in 2014. During his tenure, he designed and implemented a health equity program and health equity index across the 24-hospital health system, where he oversees a staff of around 5,000 physician members of the Sut- ter Medical Network. Last year, he was named to California Gov. Jerry Brown's Advisory Committee on Precision Medicine. Dennis Lund, MD. CMO of Lucile Packard Children's Hospital (Palo Alto, Calif.). In addition to serving as CMO of Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Dr. Lund is the Elizabeth Wood Dunlevie Endowed Professor in Pediatric Clinical Affairs at Stanford (Calif.) Medicine. He is also the associate dean of the faculty for pediatrics and obstetrics at Stan- ford University School of Medicine. His prior experience includes time as executive vice president and surgeon-in-chief at Phoenix Children's Hospital and general surgery division chairman at the University of Wis- consin-Madison. He has previously served as a member of the American College of Surgeons' Pediatric Surgery Advisory Council and treasurer of the American Pediatric Surgical Association. John Lynch, MD. Vice President and CMO of Barnes-Jewish Hospital (St. Louis). Dr. Lynch joined Barnes-Jewish Hospital in 1995 and was promoted to CMO in July 2009. As of 2016, he oversaw a team of 1,573 attending physicians and 839 residents and fellows who provided 18,590 inpatient surgeries and 22,278 outpatient surgeries that year. A pulmonary medicine and critical care physician, Dr. Lynch is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. John Matsinger, DO. Executive Vice President and System Chief Clinical Officer of Virtua (Marlton, N.J.) and President of Virtua Medical Group. Dr. Matsinger has served as executive vice president and system chief clinical officer of Virtua, as well as president of its 500-member employed medical group, since 2014. During his ten- ure, the organization has been recognized as an A organization by the Leapfrog Group and earned Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jer- sey's High Performing Hospital Award for providing quality and efficient care. He is an alumnus of the Academy GE Fellows Program and serves on the board of Virtua Physician Partners, a clinically integrated network of 1,000 physicians. Douglas G. Merrill, MD. Executive Vice President and Chief Medical and Academic Officer of Renown Health (Reno, Nev.). As executive vice president and chief medical and academic offi- cer of Renown Health, Dr. Merrill oversees the system's efforts to provide high patient care and safety standards across its integrated network. Dr. Merrill also is responsible for educational land research initiatives for the system's medical staff and collaborating with medical partners, including the Reno-based University of Nevada and Stanford (Calif.) Medicine. He previously spent time as CMO and senior associate dean for quality and safety and clinical professor of anesthesiology at the University of Cali- fornia Irvine. Thomas Miller, MD. Executive Director for Ambulatory Clin- ics and CMO of University of Utah Health (Salt Lake City). Dr. Miller oversees the medical staff at University of Utah Health as CMO and executive director for ambulatory clinics, responsible for executive and clinical medical issues. The medical staff includes more than 1,400 board-certified physicians and 5,000 healthcare professionals. He also continues to practice medicine and serves as a faculty member at the University of Utah School of Medicine. An internal medicine physician, Dr. Miller completed his residency at University of Utah in 1992. Corbi Milligan, MD. Vice President and CMO of Methodist South Hospital (Memphis, Tenn.). Dr. Milligan joined Methodist South Hospital as vice president and CMO in December 2015, respon- sible for overseeing the hospital's physician staff and hospitalist group. She has previous experience as division medical director for the TriStar Health Division of EmCare Hospitalists. She also spent time as site med- ical director for Smyrna, Tenn.-based TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center.
