Prior to this, he served as chief quality officer for Cleveland Clinic, where he also spent time as a professor of surgery and chairman of the Quality and Patient Safety Institute. John Hensing, MD. Chief Clinical Officer of Banner Health (Phoenix). Banner Health appointed Dr. Hensing chief clinical officer in 2009. Before joining the health system, which consists of 28 hospitals, Dr. Hensing practiced as an internal medicine physician for 18 years and earned the Distinguished Internist of the Year Award. Dr. Hensing is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and has served on various boards for Samaritan Health System, a Banner Health predecessor orga- nization. Before completing his residency training at Iowa State Universi- ty in Ames, he served two years as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force. Russell Holman, MD. CMO of LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.). Dr. Holman joined LifePoint in February 2013 and since then has helped transform the health system's culture, making quality and pa- tient safety an integral part of all 43,000 employees' days. As CMO, Dr. Holman has implemented initiatives to reduce patient harms by nearly 50 percent through the CMS Hospital Engagement Network and cham- pioned a partnership with Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System to create the LifePoint National Quality Program. He also created the 23-hospital health system's Patient and Family Advisory Board and National Patient Advisory Board to ensure a shared vision and create an organizational strategy. Tallulah Holmstrom, MD. CMO of Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center (Hartsville, S.C.) and KershawHealth (Cam- den, S.C.). Dr. Holmstrom is the first CMO for physician-owned Caro- lina Pines Regional Medical Center and KershawHealth, both part of the Charleston-based Capella-Medical University of South Carolina Health Network. In this role, Dr. Holmstrom is responsible for the quality of care at both hospitals, overseeing the medical staff at 116-bed Caroli- na Pines Regional Medical Center and 121-bed KershawHealth Medical Center. Lily Jung Henson, MD. CMO of Piedmont Henry Hospital (Stockbridge, Ga.). Dr. Henson became CMO of Piedmont Henry Hospital in March 2016 in addition to her role as chief of neurology for Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare. As CMO, Dr. Henson is responsi- ble for reinforcing a culture of safety and creating an infrastructure for providers to deliver the best possible care for patients.
