29 QUALITY IMPROVEMENT & MEASUREMENT 32 Quality Measures CMS Is Considering for 2018 Pre-Rulemaking By Morgan Haefner C MS released its Measures under Consideration list for 2018 pre-rulemaking. e agency sent its list to the National Quality Forum for annual review. e list contains 32 standardized performance measures HHS is considering for use in federal programs. Forty percent of the measures on this year's list are outcomes measures, including patient-re- ported outcomes measures. e list also com- prises eight episode-based cost measures. Here are the 32 quality measures CMS is proposing, organized by program. Note: Comprehensive descriptions of each measure can be found in CMS' full list. Merit-based Incentive Payment System 1. Continuity of pharmacotherapy for opioid use disorder 2. Average change in functional status fol- lowing lumbar spine fusion surgery 3. Average change in functional status fol- lowing total knee replacement surgery 4. Average change in functional status following lumbar discectomy laminotomy surgery 5. CoreQ: Short stay discharge measure n CMS Adds 4 Measures for Flu Vaccine, MRSA and C. Diff to Provider Compare Sites By Morgan Haefner C MS added four ratings to its long-term care hospital and inpatient rehabilitation facility compare websites, which allow patients to com- pare quality data on provider performance. The LTCH and IRF websites currently display quality measures concerning ulcers, catheter-associated urinary tract infection and unplanned readmis- sion measures for 30 days post-discharge. The LTCH website also features a measure for central line-associated bloodstream infection. Here are the four measures CMS added to the LTCH and IRF websites Dec. 12. 1. Percent of residents or patients who were assessed and appropriately given the seasonal influenza vaccination 2. Influenza vaccination among healthcare personnel 3.
