Millinocket Regional Hospital was founded in 1952 and designated as a critical access hospital in 2002. Mount Desert Island Hospital (Bar Harbor, Maine). Founded as a 10-bed hospital in 1897, Mount Desert Island Hospital has since transformed into an award-winning 25-bed critical access hospital with nine regional health centers and a retirement community.
