Merritt Hawkins based their findings on 3,287 permanent physician and advance practitioner search assignments that Merritt conducted with Kendall Davis and Staff Care from April 2016 to March 2017. By Adam Schrag A Medscape study revealed more orthopedic physicians are worth over $5 million than any other specialists. Here are four things to know: 1. Roughly 15 percent of orthopedic physicians are worth over $5 million. 2. The following four specialties have the highest percentage of physicians that have a net worth of $5 million or more: • 13 percent of plastic surgeons • 13 percent of ophthalmologists • 13 percent of dermatologists • 11 percent of radiologists 3. Income plays a large role in determining physicians' net worth. Orthopedic physicians earn $489,000 per year, accord- ing to the study. 4. Physicians can also accumulate wealth through ASC owner- ship, stock market investing, real estate investing and ownership in other business ventures.
