55 Kevin Roberts. Senior Vice President and CFO of BJC HealthCare (St. Louis). Mr. Roberts joined BJC HealthCare in 2008 as senior vice president and CFO. He previously served as senior vice president and CFO of University Hospitals in Cleveland and treasurer of Cleveland Clinic Foundation for a total of roughly 20 years. Richard Rothberger. Corporate Executive Vice President and CFO of Scripps Health (San Diego). Scripps named Mr. Rothberger CFO in 2001. He is responsible for corporate financial and capital planning, payer contracting, revenue cycle, real estate and construction as well as financial operations for the four-hospital nonprofit system. During his tenure, Mr. Rothberger played a key role in the system's financial turn- around beginning in 2000 through 2005. Steve Roussel. CFO of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center—Irving (Texas). Mr. Roussel joined Baylor Scott & White Medical Center—McK- inney in 2011, where he was responsible for financial planning and bud- geting as well as directing and coordinating nursing and ancillary services. He was recently named to his current role as CFO of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center—Irving. Mr. Roussel has previous experience as senior vice president of finance and compliance officer for Baylor Scott & White Medical Center—Waxahachie, where he helped improve hospital opera- tions through financial management and increased staff productivity. William Rutherford. Executive Vice President and CFO of HCA Healthcare (Nashville, Tenn.). Mr. Rutherford joined HCA Healthcare in 1986 as a staff auditor and assumed his current position with the com- pany in 2014. He rose through the ranks, serving in a number of leader- ship roles such as director of operations support and CFO for the Georgia division. He le HCA from 2005 to 2008 to start a training and education company, where he gained experience in private equity ventures. Randolph Safady. Executive Vice President and CFO of Christus Health (Irving, Texas). Mr. Safady joined Christus in his current posi- tion in 2011. Previously, he served as executive vice president and CFO of Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health for four years. At Centura, Mr. Safady was instrumental in repositioning the health system's finan- cial operations and its conversion to Meditech platforms. He previously served as senior vice president and CFO of Adventist Midwest Health, a region of Altamonte Springs-based Adventist Health. Fred Savelsbergh. CFO of Baylor Scott & White Health (Dallas). Mr. Savelsbergh joined Baylor Health Care System in 1982 as a corporate staff accountant. He assisted in the formation of Baylor Scott & White Health, which was created by the merger of Scott & White Healthcare and Baylor Health Care System, in 2013. He assumed his duties as CFO of the combined $8.4 billion system in 2014. Donald Scanlon. Chief of Corporate Services and CFO of Mount Sinai Health System (New York City). Before Mr. Scanlon was appointed CFO of Mount Sinai Health System in 2013, he served as executive vice presi- dent and CFO of Mount Sinai Medical Center for 10 years. Since taking on his current duties, he completed a $370 million financing for the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai to support the Leon and Norma Hess and Norma Hess Center for Science and Medicine. He previously served as senior vice president of finance at NewYork-Presbyterian. Matthew Sells. CFO of Shenandoah (Iowa) Medical Center. Mr. Sells has served as CFO of the hospital since 2013. He is currently interim president and CEO in addition to fulfilling his CFO duties. Mr. Sells pre- viously served as CFO of Brown County Hospital in Ainsworth, Neb., and spent time working at KPMG. Lance Sewell. CFO of South Lake Hospital (Clermont, Fla.). Mr. Sewell has served in his current role since October 2007, prior to which he was director of finance at the hospital. He previously served as assis- tant CFO of Ochsner Medical Center-Baton Rouge (La.), formerly Sum- mit Hospital. South Lake Hospital is a part of Orlando Health, a $2.6 billion nonprofit organization. Robert Shapiro. Executive Vice President of Finance and CFO of Northwell Health (New Hyde Park, N.Y.). Mr. Shapiro assumed the CFO position at Northwell Health in 2000. Before then, he was vice president of financial operations and director of finance/assistant ad- ministrator of the health system. He is also an adjunct professor of health system finance at New York City-based Hofstra University. Roger Sharma. Executive Vice President and CFO of Citrus Valley Health Partners (Covina, Calif.). With more than 20 years of healthcare finance experience, Mr. Sharma's most recent role prior to his current one was serv- ing as senior vice president of financial operations for City of Hope, a can- cer treatment and research center in Duarte, Calif. He has also previously worked at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, Calif., and California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is an inaugural fellow of the Health Leadership program at Coro, a leadership training organization. Richard Silveria. Senior Vice President of Finance and CFO of Bos- ton Medical Center. Mr. Silveria joined BMC in 2010. As senior vice president and CFO, he is responsible for the medical center's financial framework including treasury and managed care. His previous roles in- clude serving as corporate director of revenue finance for Boston-based Partners HealthCare and vice president of managed care finance for Lawrence (Mass.) General Health System. Daniel Smith. Vice President of Finance and CFO of e Johns Hop- kins Hospital (Baltimore). In addition to his current roles, Mr. Smith serves as senior vice president of finance for e Johns Hopkins Health System. He served as a healthcare consultant to Johns Hopkins in the 1980s and officially joined the staff in 1983. He previously served as se- nior director of finance at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore and CFO of Johns Hopkins Home Care Group. Shannon Sock. Executive Vice President of Strategy and CFO of Mercy Health (St. Louis). Mr. Sock came to Mercy in 1999 aer working for con- sulting firm CSC Healthcare. Mercy named Mr. Sock to his current roles in February 2014. He has overseen Mercy initiatives related to EHRs and virtual care, as well as strategic planning, business development and innovation. Eddie Soler. Senior Finance Officer of Adventist Health System (Al- tamonte Springs, Fla.). Mr. Soler serves as senior finance officer of Ad- ventist Health System, where he oversees the system's three division CFOs and works closely with Chief Clinical Officer Loran Hauck, MD. He was previously executive vice president of finance at Adventist and CFO of Orlando-based Florida Hospital and the system's Florida division. Anthony "Tony" Speranzo. Executive Vice President and CFO of As- cension (St. Louis). Prior to his current role as executive vice president and CFO of Ascension, Mr. Speranzo served as senior vice president and CFO of Ascension's healthcare division. He joined Ascension Health in 2002 aer serving as managing director at U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray. Earlier in his career, Mr. Speranzo spent 11 years at the St. Joseph Health System in Orange, Calif., serving as vice president of finance and opera- tions before being promoted to senior vice president and CFO. Bernadette Spong. CFO of Orlando (Fla.) Health. Ms. Spong has served as CFO of Orlando Health since 2015. She previously served as senior vice president and CFO of network hospitals for University of North Carolina HealthCare in Chapel Hill and CFO of UNC Rex Health Care in Raleigh. e health system's bond rating has been upgraded from A3 to A2 by Moody's Rating Agency since Ms. Spong took over as CFO. Paul Staton. Senior Vice President of Finance and CFO of UCLA Health (Los Angeles). Equipped with more than 28 years of experience in healthcare finance, Mr. Staton is senior vice president of finance and CFO of UCLA Health System. Aer serving as the health system's con- troller, he became CFO in 1996 and oversees financial operations for the health system, the UCLA Faculty Practice Group as well as the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
