48 PRACTICE MANAGEMENT 5 Milestones for Titan Spine's Endoskeleton With nanoLOCK Surface Technology By Laura Dyrda T itan Spine experienced several milestones in the first quarter of 2017 as a company and with the Endoskeleton titanium interbody fusion device that includes nanoLOCK surface technology. Here are five things to know: 1. e company reported record sales in the first quarter of 2017. 2. ere have now been 1,000 implantations of the nanoLOCK En- doskeleton device since its launch. 3. Seventy-four surgeons in 52 hospitals across 26 states are using the nanoLOCK technology. 4. Since December 2016, nanoLOCK sales volume increased 270 percent. 5. e company tripled the number of area vice presidents and re- gional managers in less than one year. Last year CMS created a new technology ICD-10 code for the nanotextured interbody fusion device that drove an increase in the number of hospitals and surgeons using the device. "Our Q1 achievements reflect the growing demand from our current sur- geon base plus new relationships we have made with surgeon adopters that are beginning to embrace the benefits of nanotech- nology for their patients," said Executive Vice President of Sales Steve Cichy. n 5 Countries Prioritizing Stem Cell Treatments By Adam Schrag F ive countries lead the way in stem cell medication clinical trials administered between 1999 and 2016, according to The National Institute of Food and Drug Safety in South Korea. Here are the five countries leading the way in stem cell clin- ical trials: 1. The U.S. ranked first with a total of 314 clinical trials on stem cell medications registered with the NIH from 1999 to 2016. 2. South Korea reportedly registered 46 clinical trials span- ning from 1999 to 2016. 3. China placed third, with 29 clinical trials administered since 1999. South Korea and China tied in 2014 by register- ing five clinical trials each and China overtook South Korea last year before South Korea jumped back to second in 2016. 4.
