12 ASC MANAGEMENT 9 New ASCs Opened or Announced By Mary Rechtoris H ere are nine ASCs that opened or broke ground over the past month or so. Centralia, Ill.-based St. Mary's Hospital held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its orthopedic surgery center. Craig Beyer, MD, will join the surgery center in an effort to expand medical services in the region. Nashville, Tenn.-based Surgery Partners is opening a surgery center in Beverly Hills, Ca- lif., which will offer ophthalmology services. Lincoln, Neb.-based Bryan Medical Cen- ter will soon house an ASC. e ASC will feature six outpatient surgical suites and will have ample space for expansion. Frontier Healthcare Holdings and Lib- erty Endoscopy Center partnered to open a gastroenterology-facing ASC in New York, where the two companies are located. A year-long process will come to a close for the Athens (Ala.)-Limestone Hospital with the groundbreaking of its $25 million surgery center. Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care is building a new $130 million facility, which will house an ASC and an office building in Kenosha, Wis. e ASC will be one story, while the office building will be three stories. Vero Orthopaedics & Neurology in Vero Beach, Fla., opened an ASC. e ASC will in- clude treatment for spine, elbow, knee, foot, ankle, hand, shoulder and wrist surgery. e facility will also include sports medicine and interventional pain management. e new Lancaster (Ohio) Specialty Surgery Center opened its doors. e surgery center will mainly offer orthopedic services, includ- ing outpatient total joint procedures. e Everett Clinic is opening a new surgery center and urgent care walk-in clinic in Ed- monds, Wash. e project will cost $10 mil- lion. n Physicians Endoscopy Acquires Minority Interest in The Endoscopy Center at St. Mary By Mary Rechtoris J amison, Pa.-based Physicians Endoscopy is partner- ing with St. Mary Medical Center, the Gastroenter- ology Group PA and Center for Colon and Rectal Health physicians, all based in Langhorne, Pa., to acquire a minority interest in Langhorne-based The Endoscopy Center at St. Mary. Here are four points: 1. The parties finalized the partnership on Dec. 1, 2016. 2. PE's investment in The Endoscopy Center at St. Mary marks the company's 43rd ASC. 3. The Endoscopy Center at St. Mary performs more than 5,500 procedures each year. 4. The GI-focused ASC has four operating rooms.
