The parties signed an asset purchase agreement in June. Quorum Health Corp., the 38-hospital spin-off of Franklin, Tenn.-based Com- munity Health Systems, signed a de- finitive agreement to sell Barrow Re- gional Medical Center in Winder, Ga., to Northeast Georgia Health System in Gainesville. Knoxville, Tenn.-based TeamHealth Holdings will acquire Orlando-based Florida Emergency Physicians, the ex- clusive emergency medicine staffing provider for numerous hospitals with- in the state's health system. The University of Chicago Medicine finalized an agreement to merge with Harvey, Ill.-based Ingalls Health Sys- tem. Glen Dale, W.Va.-based Reynolds Me- morial Hospital is the ninth hospital to join Morgantown-based West Virginia University Health System. Springfield, Mo.-based Ozarks Com- munity Hospital will acquire Carthage (Mo.) Children's Clinic, effective Oct. 1.The clinic was renamed OCH Jasper County Pediatric Clinic. Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Health- care completed the sale of 12 long- term acute care hospitals to Curahealth for $27.5 million. Brentwood, Tenn.-based Duke LifePoint ceased discussions with Longview, Tex- as-based Good Shepherd Health Sys- tem over a possible acquisition. Nashville, Tenn.-based Ardent Health Services and Plano, Texas-based LHP Hospital Group entered into a defini- tive agreement to merge the two insti- tutions. The merged entity will become the second largest private, for-profit hospital operator by revenue in the U.S. Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System joined Chicago-based AVIA Innovator Network, a network of 20 health systems all seeking to transform healthcare through the adoption of dig- ital solutions.
