18 Toby Hamilton, MD. CEO of Emerus Holdings (e Woodlands, Texas). Dr. Hamilton is a founding partner, CEO and chairman of the board of directors of Emerus Holdings, a network of value-based micro- hospitals. Prior to joining Emerus, he was regional medical director of Houston-based Cypress Creek Emergency Care Center and a practicing physician at Denton (Texas) Regional Medical Center. Board-certified in emergency medicine, Dr. Hamilton is also a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Louis Hochheiser, MD. CEO of St. John's Medical Center (Jackson, Wyo.). In his current role as CEO, Dr. Hochheiser, a family physician, oversees the 108-bed St. John's Medical Center. Before taking on the po- sition in 2012, Dr. Hochheiser was medical director of clinical policy for Humana. He has also served as chair of the departments of family med- icine at Providence, R.I.-based Brown University and Burlington-based University of Vermont. roughout his career, Dr. Hochheiser has ad- vised and counseled various organizations, such as hospitals and agen- cies focused on mental health and wellness. Lisa E. Harris, MD. Medical Director and CEO of Eskenazi Health (Indianapolis). Dr. Harris has served as medical director and CEO of Eskenazi Health, formerly Wishard Health System, since 2004. In this role, she oversees a workforce of roughly 4,470 and one of the larg- est safety-net heath systems in the nation. Previously, she was chief of medicine of Eskenazi Health and CMO of the primary care division of Indiana University Medical Group, the faculty practice for Indiana Uni- versity School of Medicine in Bloomington. Dr. Harris is past chair of America's Essential Hospitals and is medical director and president-elect of the board of directors of the American Red Cross of Greater India- napolis. A. Marc Harrison, MD. Incoming President and CEO of Intermoun- tain Healthcare (Salt Lake City). Dr. Harrison will take over as presi- dent and CEO of Intermountain Healthcare when Charles W. Sorenson, MD, retires on Oct. 15. Dr. Harrison most recently served as chief of international business development of Cleveland Clinic and CEO of the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, where he formed a 3,500 member multina- tional workforce and supervised all clinical and business operations for the new medical campus. Dr. Harrison also held the roles of CMO and chairman of pediatric critical care at Cleveland Clinic. He earned his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, N.H., and received a Master of Medical Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Richard Hart, MD, DrPH. President and CEO of Loma Linda (Ca- lif.) University Health. In 2008, Dr. Hart took the reins as president of Loma Linda University, which encompasses the enterprise's academics, research organizations and health system. Dr. Hart's tenure at Loma Lin- da University began in 1972, and since then he has held various roles, in- cluding chair of the department of health sciences, director of the Center for Health Promotion, chair of the School of Medicine department of preventive medicine and dean of the School of Public Health. In 2001, he was appointed chancellor and CEO of Loma Linda University. Prior to joining the university, Dr. Hart, who is board-certified in preventive medicine, served in Tanzania as a population intern from the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. Margot Hartmann, MD, PhD. President and CEO of Nantucket (Mass.) Cottage Hospital. Dr. Hartmann is board-certified in internal medicine and has served as president and CEO of Nantucket Cottage Hospital since October 2010. Aer joining the hospital as an internist in 1999, she co-led the emergency department until her current appoint- ment. Since then, she has led a financial turnaround for the hospital and was awarded Person of the Year by Nantucket Magazine in 2012. Rodney Hochman, MD. President and CEO of Providence St. Joseph Health (Renton, Wash.). At the helm of Providence St. Joseph Health, Dr. Hochman leads a nonprofit health and social services system with 50 hospitals, 829 physician clinics and various services across Alaska, California, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas and Washington. Dr. Hochman was president and CEO of Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services until it merged with Irvine, Calif.-based St. Joseph Health earlier this year. Previously, Dr. Hochman served as president and CEO of Seattle-based Swedish Health Services, which affiliated with Providence in 2012. Before that, he was executive vice president at Nor- folk, Va.-based Sentara Healthcare. Dr. Hochman's medical background is in rheumatology and internal medicine. Larry Kaiser, MD. Senior Executive Vice President and CEO of Temple University Health System (Philadelphia). Dr. Kaiser, an internationally recognized healthcare executive, thoracic surgeon, researcher and author, is dean of the Lewis Katz School of Medicine and senior executive vice president for health affairs at Temple University, president and CEO of Temple University Health System and a professor of thoracic medicine and surgery. Prior to joining Temple, Dr. Kaiser was president of the University of Texas Health Center at Houston. His research and clinical interests include lung cancer, malignant mesothelioma and mediastinal tumors. He is the author or co-author of 14 books and more than 250 original papers and is a current or past editorial board member of the Annals of Surgery, the American Journal of Surgery, the Journal of oracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and several other journals. Neeraj Kanwal, MD. President of ProMedica Flower Hospital (Syl- vania, Ohio). Before being appointed to his current role of president of ProMedica Flower Hospital, Dr. Kanwal served as vice president of medical affairs at ProMedica Toledo (Ohio) Hospital. He first joined ProMedica in 2001 as vice president and medical director of Maumee, Ohio-based Paramount Health Care, a health insurance group. He com- pleted medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and holds a master's degree in health services administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Kanwal had a primary care practice throughout the 1990s. Gary Kaplan, MD. Chairman and CEO of Virginia Mason Health System (Seattle). Dr. Kaplan has served as chairman and CEO of Vir- ginia Mason Health System since 2000. In addition to his executive du- ties, he practices internal medicine at the health system. Dr. Kaplan is a founding member of Health CEOs for Health Reform, a diverse national coalition of healthcare industry leaders committed to establishing sus- tainable universal health coverage for all, and has held leadership posi- tions with numerous other organizations, including the Medical Group Management Association and the Washington Healthcare Forum. He is also the chair of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement board of di- rectors and chairman of the National Patient Safety Foundation Lucian Leape Institute. Donald Kearns, MD. President and CEO of Rady Children's Hospital (San Diego). Dr. Kearns was appointed to his current role as president and CEO of Rady Children's Hospital in February 2015. Previously, he served in top executive roles at the hospital, having been named acting president and CMO in November 2013. He became president of the hos- pital in July 2014. Dr. Kearns practiced pediatric otolaryngology for more than 25 years at Rady Children's. He has also held a variety of clinical lead- ership roles, including chairman of the hospital's department of surgery and surgeon-in-chief of Rady Children's Specialists of San Diego. Mark A. Keroack, MD. President and CEO of Baystate Health (Springfield, Mass.). As president and CEO of Baystate Health, Dr. Keroack provides strategic, financial and operational oversight for all of the health system's services, as well as its subsidiary health plan, Health New England. Prior to his current role, he served as system COO from April 2013 through June 2014, and as chief physician executive and pres- ident of Baystate Medical Practices from June 2011 through April 2013.
