Since its in- corporation in 1939, River Falls Area Hospital has evolved from a small city hospital into a larger regional hospital supported by Minneap- olis-based Allina Health Network. e hospital center consists of a surgical center, birth center and wellness center. is nonprofit critical ac- cess hospital provides a full range of inpatient, outpatient, cancer care and emergency care services, and has been consistently recognized by various healthcare organizations for its dedi- cation to quality care. RFAH won Healthgrades' 2016 Outstanding Patient Experience Award as well as the 2015 Women's Choice Award for America's Best Hospitals: Emergency Care. Steele Memorial Medical Center (Salmon, Idaho). Key quality measures illustrate Steele Memorial's dedication to excellence in patient safety and clinical care. It opened its doors Sept. 1, 1950. Seward Memorial's excel- lence as a critical access institution has been recognized nationally in recent years. It ranked among the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation by iVantage Health Analytics and re- ceived the National Rural Health Association's Top 20 Critical Access Hospital Best Practice in Quality award in 2016 Sparrow Clinton Hospital (St. Johns, Mich.). In 1869, the hospital was officially founded by the Women's Hospital Association to bring critical medical services to the area. Sparrow Clinton is now affiliated with Sparrow Health System, a network of hospitals and subsidiaries providing healthcare services throughout the Michigan region. Sparrow is the only Mich- igan-based health system that is part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network. Sparrow Clinton Hospital is consistently recognized for its ex- pertise in quality clinical care — it was named among the nation's Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals by iVantage Health Analytics in 2016. Speare Memorial Hospital (Plymouth, N.H.). From its humble beginnings as a sol- diers' and sailors' hospital in 1899, Speare Me- morial Hospital has transformed into a worthy medical leader among its critical access peers. It is nestled between the White Mountain National Forest and the lakes region of New Hampshire, where its natural surroundings provide an inspiring and regenerative back- ground for healing patients. In 2016, Speare was nationally recognized as one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation by iVantage Health Analytics, a recognition it has earned for six consecutive years. It was desig- nated a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital by the National Rural Health Association in 2015. Tahoe Forest Hospital (Truckee, Calif.). Tahoe Forest Hospital has served its north- eastern California community since 1952. Accredited as a critical access hospital by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program, it is regarded highly by its patients, as it has been awarded a five-star rating by CMS based on HCAHPS survey results. Tomah (Wis.) Memorial Hospital. Tomah Memorial Hospital, founded in 1952, is a 29-bed critical access hospital that serves residents in Tomah and its surrounding communities. e hospital completed a $10 million construction and renovation project in 2005, including an 800-square-foot addi- tion that houses a state-of-the-art MRI unit. Tomah Memorial Hospital earned e Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval and was named a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital by the National Rural Health Association in 2016. Transylvania Regional Hospital (Brevard, N.C.). Transylvania Regional Hospital, founded in 1933, is a nonprofit commu- nity hospital serving Transylvania and the surrounding counties. In 2012, the hospital became a member of Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health System. Transylvania Regional Hospital is a nationally ranked Top Performer for Quality by e Joint Commission and one of 147 hospitals nationwide to receive the designation four years in a row, most recently in 2015. It has also been named one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals in the country by the National Rural Health Association three years in a row, most recently in 2016. University Hospitals Geneva (Ohio) Medical Center. UH Geneva Medical Center is a com- munity medical center and part of the Cleve- land-based University Hospitals healthcare system. Established more than a century ago as an emergency hospital, Geneva Medical Center has become a crucial provider in the regional community. As part of the UH system, GMC offers community-based healthcare with direct access to leading clinical and research facilities at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland. is critical access facility received Premier's 2014 QUEST Award for High-Value Healthcare and the 2015 Guardian of Excel- lence Award for Physician Engagement. Waldo County General Hospital (Belfast, Maine). Waldo County General Hospital opened its doors in 1904. Rockport, Maine- based Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo Coun- ty General Hospital centralized operations and became a unified system under the legal name of Coastal Healthcare Alliance on December 1, 2015. e hospitals have successfully integrated more than 50 clinical and nonclinical programs, enhancing and improving the range of health- care services offered to patients. WCGH was named among iVantage Health Analytics' Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation for the sixth consecutive year in 2016. Whitman Hospital and Medical Center (Colfax, Wash.). Whitman Hospital and Medical Center placed among iVantage Health Analytics' Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation in 2016. It earned a Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award in 2014 and 2015, and received an Award of Excellence in Healthcare Quality from Qualis Health for its work in readmission reductions in 2015. e Whitman campus hosts a critical access hospital as well as two independent physician practices and Whitman Surgery Center. Winneshiek Medical Center (Decorah, Iowa). Winneshiek Medical Center is a nonprofit com- munity hospital that has served northeastern Iowa since 1914. WMC's medical staff consists of 30 active Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clin- ic physicians who provide both primary and specialty care. Mayo Clinic's flagship campus in Minnesota is about 75 miles from Winneshiek Medical Center. e hospital was named a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital in the nation by the National Rural Health Association in 2016.
