Tenet's ACOs span the country, making the health system a nationwide leader in accountable care. Its value-based contracts encompass 73 commercial payer agreements and nine Medi- care ACO programs. e ACO joins more than 9,500 physicians in local care delivery organizations and serves more than 670,000 individuals. In 2014, its Southfield-based Michigan Pioneer ACO was the No. 2 Pioneer ACO for most shared savings, reaching $9.82 million. Texas Health Resources (Arlington). In 2012, Texas Health Resources and North Texas Specialty Physicians formed a Pioneer ACO Plus, but the next year, it departed from the program. Still, Texas Health Resources remains active the world of accountable care, having initiated efforts with commercial payers such as Aetna and Cigna. In 2015, Texas Health Re- sources joined four other Dallas-based systems in forming a 42-hospital ACO called Forward Health Partners. Last June, Texas Health Resources signed a letter of intent for its hospitals to become part of Premier Patient Health Care's ACO. edaCare ACO (Appleton, Wis.). edaCare and Bellin Health ini- tially operated a collaborative ACO called Bellin-edaCare Healthcare Partners, which ranked No. 1 among Pioneer participants with a quality score of 94.11 in 2014. But in January 2016, the partnership split, with the health systems each operating their own individual ACO. Both ACOs — edaCare ACO and Bellin Health Physician Partners — are part of CMS' Next Generation Model. Torrance (Calif.) Memorial Integrated Physicians. Torrance Memorial Integrated Physicians is affiliated with Torrance Memorial Medical Cen- ter, a nonprofit hospital south of Los Angeles. Its ACO launched in July 2012 with 398 participating physicians. Torrance Memorial Integrated Physicians is in Track 3 of the Medicare Shared Savings Program model. Triad HealthCare Network (Greensboro, N.C.). A collaboration be- tween Greensboro-based Cone Health System and local physicians, Tri- ad Health Care Network became part of the Medicare Shared Savings Program in 2012. In 2014, it participated in Track 1 of the MSSP and saved $3 million. e ACO covers beneficiaries in six North Carolina counties, and in January 2016, CMS selected it to participate in the Next Generation ACO model. Trinity Health ACO (Livonia, Mich.). Trinity Health ACO is a collabo- ration between Affinia Health Network, Lourdes Health Network, Loyola Physician Partners, Mount Carmel Health System and Summit Medical Group. e ACO's providers exist in counties throughout Illinois, Mich- igan, New Jersey and Ohio. In January 2016, Trinity Health ACO began participating in the Next Generation ACO program. University Hospitals (Cleveland). University Hospitals operates three key ACOs: a Medicare Shared Savings Program ACO, a pediatric ACO and an employee ACO. e pediatric ACO, Rainbow Care Connection, was one of the first in the United States. Additionally, UH — whose ACOs serve more than 270,000 beneficiaries — has launched numerous ACOs with commercial payers such as Aetna and UnitedHealthcare. In June 2015, University Hospitals signed an ACO agreement with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield for Medicare Advantage members in north- east Ohio, which marked its 10th accountable care program. UW Health ACO (Madison, Wis.). Launched in January 2013, UW Health ACO is a partnership between UW Health physicians, hospitals, clinics and the medical school. It is part of the Medicare Shared Savings Program and was one of Wisconsin's first ACOs. In 2014, UW Health ACO had the fih highest overall quality scores among all MSSP partic- ipants: 94.34 percent. Virginia Collaborative Care (Houston). Virginia Collaborative Care launched in 2013. It is currently in Track 2 of the Medicare Shared Savings Program and operated by Universal American and its subsidiary, Collab- orative Health Systems. In 2013, Virginia Collaborative Care earned $2.3 million in shared savings. e next year it generated $2.8 million. WakeMed Key Community Care (Raleigh, N.C.). Since 2014, WakeMed Key Community Care has participated in the Medicare Shared Savings Program. e ACO was created by WakeMed Health & Hospitals and WakeMed Physician Practices and Key Physicians. WakeMed Key Com- munity Care has partnerships with a variety of commercial payers, in- cluding Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, UnitedHealthcare and Cigna. Its partnership with Cigna launched in January 2016 and cov- ers more than 20,500 members. Weill Cornell Physician Organization (New York City). Weill Cornell Physician Organization still stands today as New York City's first ACO between a health plan and a physician organization. e ACO is made up of Weill Cornell faculty members who are also attending physicians at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. e ACO and Cigna entered an accountable care initiative in January 2012. More than two years later — in September 2014 — Weill Cornell Physician Organization and Aetna launched a similar agreement involving 1,237 Weill Cornell physicians. WellStar Health Network ACO (Marietta, Ga.). WellStar Health Net- work was selected to begin in the Medicare Shared Savings Program in July 2012, and it renewed its contract this year in Track 1 of the program. e network has roughly 100 participating practices and has been largely successful in generating savings. In its first performance year (July 2012 through 2013) the ACO generated aggregate shared savings of $9.74 mil- lion, and in it its second performance year (2014) WellStar generated $3.78 million in aggregate shared savings. WellStar splits its shared savings even- ly between its hospital and physician participants. e ACO is part of the 11-hopsital WellStar Health System, the largest system in Georgia. West Florida ACO (Trinity, Fla.). Formed by a group of independent physician practices, West Florida ACO was one of the first 27 ACOs to join the Medicare Shared Savings Program in April 2012. With 56 participating providers, it is now a Track 3 MSSP ACO.
