11 150 Hospital and Health System CFOs to Know | 2016 Becker's Hospital Review is pleased to release the 2016 edition of its "150 Hospital and Health System CFOs to Know" list. The men and women on this list lead some of the most prominent hospitals and health systems in the nation, be they for-profit or nonprofit, and help their organizations navigate the challenging changes in healthcare reimbursement today. To develop this list, the Becker's Hospital Review editorial team considered nominations, conducted editorial research, and reviewed prior lists from the publication and speakers at 2016 conferences. Note: Individuals cannot pay for inclusion on this list. Names are presented in alphabetical order. Clint Adams. Executive Vice President and CFO of Ardent Health Services (Nashville, Tenn.). Mr. Adams has roughly 20 years of healthcare and accounting experience and joined the Ardent Health Services team in 2003. Previously, he was an audit senior manager for Ernst & Young. He has also been controller for PathGroup and an audit manager and staff accountant for Deloitte. Mr. Adams is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and is a certified public accountant. Kedrick Adkins Jr. CFO of Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minn.). Mr. Adkins has headed up finances at Mayo Clinic since 2014. Previously he was with Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health, serving as president of integrated services from 2007 until 2013. He helped see the system through its merger with Catholic Health East and then served as executive vice president and president of integrated services post- merger for a year. Mr. Adkins has a degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Michael Allen. CFO, OSF Healthcare (Peoria, Ill.). Mr. Allen joined OSF Healthcare in September 2015. He was previously CFO of Gundersen Health system in La Crosse, Wis., a role he took on in 2013. He has been heavily involved with the Healthcare Financial Management Association, chairing the group's national board of examiners earlier in his career. Mark Anderson. CFO of Lane Regional Medical Center (Zachary, La.). Lane Regional Medical Center is a 139-bed regional healthcare system, and Mr. Anderson heads up its finances. He has more than 20 years of healthcare financial management experience. Before joining Lane Regional, the Bossier City, La.-native was CFO of two hospitals in Virginia and two hospitals in Louisiana. Rhonda Anderson. Senior Vice President and CFO of Ascension Health (St. Louis). Ms. Anderson took her current post in October 2014. She was previously president of the business development division and CFO of Milwaukee-based Columbia St. Mary's, a health ministry of Ascension Health. Ms. Anderson has spent the majority of her career in Baltimore, with 20 years at Saint Agnes Healthcare in various roles. Sue Anderson. Executive Vice President, CFO and CIO of Virginia Mason Medical Center (Seattle). Ms. Anderson's history with Virginia Mason Medical Center dates back to 1986, when she worked with the Virginia Mason Clinic billing office as a consultant. She took on the roles of CFO and CIO of the hospital in 2007, and was promoted from senior vice president to executive vice president in 2013. Ms. Anderson holds an MBA from Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University. Charles Ayscue. Senior Vice President of Finance and CFO of Mission Health (Asheville, N.C.). Prior to joining Mission Health, Mr. Ayscue was CFO of University of North Carolina Health Care in Chapel Hill and its predecessors. While there, he oversaw a budget of more than $1.4 billion for the more than 1,000-bed system and improved its overall cash balance by $500 million over 15 years. Mr. Ayscue holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Joe Barnes. CFO of Grant Memorial Hospital (Petersburg, W.Va.). Mr. Barnes oversees the finances at Grant Memorial Hospital, a critical access hospital supported by a medical staff of more than 15. He joined the hospital in 2010 as CFO. Previously, Mr. Barnes was a senior manager with Dixon Hughes, consulting on healthcare reimbursement and cost report preparation. Dara Bartels. CFO of Gundersen Health System (La Crosse, Wis.). After serving as interim CFO of the system for eight months, Ms. Bartels was named permanent CFO of Gundersen in April. She joined the system six years ago as director of finance and has also served as controller and executive director of finance. Ms. Bartels is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Medical Group Management Association. Gregg Beeg. CFO of Oaklawn Hospital (Marshall, Mich.). Mr. Beeg, who has more than 27 years of experience in healthcare financial administration and operations management, serves as CFO of this 77- bed independent hospital. He is a fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives. Mr. Beeg has an MBA from Eastern Michigan University. Chris Bergman. Vice President and CFO of Dayton (Ohio) Children's Hospital. As CFO of this pediatric hospital, Mr. Bergman oversees accounting, accounts payable, payroll, revenue cycle, supply chain and more. Before joining Dayton Children's, he was vice president and CFO of Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He has more than 35 years of experience in the industry. Ron Blaustein. CFO of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital (Chicago). Mr. Blaustein was promoted to his current position in June 2014 after serving as associate CFO. He has been with the children's hospital since 2006. Before joining Lurie Children's, Mr. Blaustein held financial planning positions at PwC and Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Colleen M. Blye. Executive Vice President and CFO of Montefiore Health System (Bronx, N.Y.).
