Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health System completed its acquisition of Hackettstown (N.J.) Regional Medical Center. Coral Gables-based Baptist Health South Florida acquired a majority in- terest in Northpoint Surgery Center in West Palm Beach, Fla. Orange, N.J.-based Barnabas Health and Robert Wood Johnson Health Sys- tem, which has flagship hospital cam- puses in New Brunswick, N.J., and Som- erset, N.J., completed their planned merger, creating the largest health sys- tem in the state. Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., joined the East Florida Re- gion of Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System. Bowie (Texas) Memorial Hospital board members signed a contract to sell the facility to Hashmi Group for $1.5 million. Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Health- care and Brentwood, Tenn.-based RegionalCare Hospital Partners an- nounced plans to merge, creating a combined company with 18 hospital campuses in 12 states. Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems acquired an 80 percent ownership interest in Physicians' Spe- cialty Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark. Eastern Niagara Health System in Lock- port, N.Y., and Buffalo, N.Y.-based Ka- leida Health inked an affiliation agree- ment, which will allow the systems to work together on physician recruitment, clinical education, supply chain and IT enhancement. Elliot Health System, a single-hospital system in Manchester, N.H., put out a request for acquisition proposals and Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Cor- poration of America and Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Health were chosen as bidding finalists. Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Ser- vices and health insurer UCare signed a letter of intent to combine their opera- tions. New York State approved a request for Forest Hills (N.Y.) Hospital and Franklin Hospital in Valley Stream, N.Y., to merge with Long Island Jewish Medical Center, part of Great Neck, N.Y.-based North- well Health. Baton Rouge, La.-based General Health System and New Orleans-based Ochs- ner Health System signed a letter of intent to form an integrated, strategic partnership. Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, La., and New Orle- ans-based Ochsner Health System formed a long-term partnership. The proposed merger between Jameson Health System, a single hospital system in New Castle, Pa., and Pittsburgh-based UPMC was given the go-ahead under a consent decree filed in the U.S. Dis- trict Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. The board of directors of Kinston, N.C.- based Lenoir Memorial Hospital voted to pursue exclusive negotiations to cre- ate a management services agreement with Chapel Hill-based UNC Health Care. Memorial Health in Savannah, Ga., ap- proved a strategic partnership agree- ment with Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health. North Valley Hospital in Whitefish, Mont., will become an affiliate under the Kalispell (Mont.) Regional Health- care system. Chicago-based Northwestern Memorial HealthCare and Crystal Lake, Ill.-based Centegra Health System signed a letter of intent to explore an affiliation. Physicians Realty Trust, a self-managed healthcare properties REIT, is looking to boost its portfolio with the addition of 52 medical office facilities owned by Englewood, Colo.-based based Catho- lic Health Initiatives.
