Stimulation System from Stimwave. e
fully-programmable SCS neuromodulation de-
vice received FDA clearance in 2015. e stimula-
tor is implanted in an outpatient, minimally inva-
sive procedure. e device delivers small pulses of
energy to eight electrodes placed near surround-
ing nerves that triggers a reaction enabling the
brain to remap specific pain signals. e device
is designed to help patients manage chronic pain.
SurgiBot System from TransEn-
terix. TransEnterix is in the final phases of
development and commercialization of the
SurgiBot System, a minimally invasive surgical
platform. e system aims to deliver high-quality
visualization, instrument dexterity and preci-
sion as well as surgeon comfort during laparo-
scopic surgery. e system allows different in-
struments deployed through a single incision.
The Spanner Prostatic Stent from SRS
Medical. e Spanner Prostatic Stent is a tem-
porary stent inserted into the urethra at the neck
of the bladder to maintain urine flow. e device
is intended for men with bladder outlet obstruc-
tion. e Spanner Prostatic Stent aims to reduce
elevated post void residual, improve voiding
symptoms and allow for voluntary urination. e
device is an alternative to the Foley catheter. SRS
Medical has been given FDA investigational de-
vice exemption approval for a study designed to
expand the indications for e Spanner.
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement
from Sharp HealthCare. e new minimal-
ly invasive transcatheter aortic valve replacement
procedure or TAVR is intended for patients with
severe aortic stenosis, particularly elderly patients
or those with heart disease. Patients with health
issues may not be able to undergo "open heart"
surgery. TAVR allows interventional cardiolo-
gists to replace a diseased aortic valve by placing
a balloon-expandable heart valve into the body
through a catheter inserted through a leg artery.
TYPHOON MI Transfacet Pedicular
Screw from ChoiceSpine. e TYPHOON
MI is designed for facet arthrodesis and posterior
stabilization of the lumbar spine. e system has a
lag section to facilitate facet joint decompression.
e sharp threads through the cortical bone in-
terfaces while minimizing damage. e dual pitch
screw thread maximizes purchase and compres-
sion of the facet joint.
UniVise Spinous Process Fixation Plate
System from Stryker. e minimally inva-
sive system features a simple, one implant design
that allows for midline insertion and locking. e
system also features anatomically shaped plates.
Each plate is designed with a radial spike pattern
intended to improve positioning and grip. e
system is compatible with a variety of bone gra-
ing options within Stryker's biologics portfolio.
UroLift from NeoTract. Treatment using
UroLi is a minimally invasive approach to treat-
ing an enlarged prostate, or benign prostatic hy-
perplasia. e system lis or holds the enlarged
prostate tissue out of the way so it no longer
blocks the urethra. UroLi consists of a delivery
device and tiny permanent implants. e treat-
ment can be performed in the physician's office
under local anesthesia.
VisionScope Imaging System from Vi-
sionScope Technologies. e arthroscopic
imaging system is designed specifically for in-
office diagnostic testing. e system uses a 1.4
mm diameter endoscope. VisionScope Imaging
System aims to provide physicians the ability to
visualize, assess and diagnose joint pathologies.
e system is comprised of video hardware, mi-
cro-optics and advanced computational soware.
Yeung Endoscopic Spine System from
Richard Wolf Instrument Company. e
system is used to perform selective endoscopic dis-
cectomy, a minimally invasive spine surgery tech-
nique that uses an endoscope to treat herniated,
protruded, extruded or degenerative discs. e tech-
nique aims to lessen tissue destruction and postop-
erative pain as well as improve recovery times. e
technique was developed by Anthony Yeung, MD,
using the system developed in collaboration with
with the Richard Wolf Instrument Company.
Zimmer Persona Knee from Zimmer
Biomet. e Persona Knee features anatomical
femoral and tibial components that are designed
to provide accurate fit and alignment during knee
arthroplasty. e device includes side-specific ki-
nematics and differential conformity articulation.
e knee system features trabecular metal materi-
al, which is structured to function like bone and al-
lows for biological fixation. e system uses legacy
anatomic patellofemoral component designs.
