52 Executive Briefing not report to them, and they are not able to manage the time it takes to get X-ray results. Results from a survey by the Journal of the American Medical Association show emergency physicians have the highest rate of "burnout" among physicians, hovering around 65 percent. In freestanding ERs, physicians are given back their ability to monitor the pace of their staff, leading to shorter wait times and more patient transparency — and in turn, providing physicians with less stress and more job satisfaction. Adeptus Health has created facilities with both patient and phy- sician satisfaction in mind. Physicians appreciate a more inti- mate work environment allowing them closer contact and more personal treatment for patients. The freestanding ER model also transforms a physician's ability to engage with patients by giving them more time for one-on-one conversations. This is possible because of a team approach model, where emergen- cy-trained registered nurses and radiologists work alongside the physicians at every stage. This, coupled with lower patient volumes versus traditional ERs, allows for a more relaxed set- ting. By ensuring more physician-patient quality time, we can offer a happier workplace for physicians and a more personal- ized experience for patients. Our approach to patient and physician satisfaction is proving to be successful. One way to measure this is by noting the level of high-quality care we're able to provide. Our First Choice Emer- gency Room system was named a 2015 Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey Associates. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing healthcare organizations that have consistently achieved the 95th percentile or above for performance in patient experi- ence. Adeptus Health has maintained this rating for the last three years. Adeptus Health has also been honored locally by being named one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas by Texas Monthly, an award that is voted upon by the compa- ny's own employees. The recognition we have received from Press Ganey as well as Texas Monthly reinforce the notion that people can do great work when they're satisfied with their work environment. We know that our employees' happiness correlates to their ability to provide an excellent patient experience. A Growing Segment The freestanding ER model has become a game-changer; it's an important and growing segment within the spectrum of care options. At Adeptus Health, we are transforming the emergen- cy care experience with a differentiated and convenient care delivery model that improves access, reduces wait times and provides high-quality clinical and diagnostic services on-site. We recognize that patient satisfaction is a two-way street, and that's why our facilities are designed with both our patients and our staff in mind. As we continue to grow and open new facilities, we are addressing the shortage of ER facilities by creating more access to high-quality care. Most importantly, we are saving lives every day. n Sponsored by: About Adeptus Health Adeptus Health Inc.
