In addition to serving as CMO of UW Medicine, Dr. Pellegrini is also vice president for medical affairs for the University of Washington. He has chaired the department of surgery at UW School of Medicine cine 1993. He is a current member of the board of commissioners of e Joint Commission, a past chair of the board of re- gents and president of the American College of Surgeons, among other prior positions. George H. Perkins, MD. CMO of Uni- versity of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston). In addition to his role as CMO of MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Perkins is a professor in the department of radiation oncology and medical director of physician referral services for MD Anderson. He is a member of multiple research groups within MD Anderson and has twice received the National Institutes of Health National Research Service Award. Jonathan B. Perlin, MD, PhD. President of Clinical Services and CMO of Hospi- tal Corporation of America (Nashville, Tenn.). Prior to joining Hospital Corporation of America in 2006, Dr. Perlin was undersecre- tary for health in the U.S. Department of Vet- erans Affairs. He was chairman of the America Hospital Association in 2015 and also serves as chair of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs Special Medical Advisory Group. Robert Phillips, MD, PhD. Executive Vice President and CMO of Houston Methodist. Dr. Philips was professor of med- icine and population health research, senior vice president and director of the heart and vascular center of excellence at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester before joining Houston Methodist. He also previously held academic appointments at the New York University School of Medicine and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, both in New York City. Irving Pike, MD. CMO of John Muir Health (Walnut Creek, Calif.). Dr. Pike was named the first CMO of John Muir Health in 2012. Prior to this appointment, he was a physician executive for Sentara Healthcare in Norfolk, Va., for 12 years. Dr. Pike is president of the Gastroenterology Quality Improvement Consortium and serves on the board of trustees of the American College of Gastroenterology. John Popovich Jr., MD, Executive Vice President and CMO of Henry Ford Health System. In addition to serving as ex- ecutive vice president and CMO of Henry Ford Health System, Dr. Popovich is president and CEO of Henry Ford Hospital, making him the hospital's first physician leader in more than 40 years. He held a number of administrative roles with Henry Ford prior to his current position, including serving as division head of pulmonary and critical care medicine, chair of the internal medicine department and senior vice president of clinical affairs for the system. Dr. Popovich is past chair of the American Board of Internal Medicine and holds a faculty appointment at Wayne State University's School of Medicine in Detroit. Irving Prengler, MD. Executive Vice President of Medical Staff Affairs and CMO of Baylor Scott & White Health (Dallas). Dr. Prengler joined the Baylor University Medical Center staff in 1983 as a practicing internist before founding the system's first hospitalist group in 1993. He has also served as medical director of the Center for Quality and Care Coordination and CMO of Baylor Health Care System. Dr. Prengler began his current appointment in 2013. Robert Press, MD. Senior Vice Pres- ident, Vice Dean, Chief of Hospital Operations and CMO of NYU Langone Medical Center (New York). Dr. Press has served as CMO of NYU Langone Medical Cen- ter since 2007. Additionally, he serves as senior vice president, vice dean, chief of hospital oper- ations and patient safety officer. He is a clinical professor of medicine in New York University's School of Medicine and is past president of the Infectious Diseases Society of New York. Marlon Priest, MD. Executive Vice Pres- ident and CMO of Bon Secours Health System (Marriottsville, Md.). Prior to joining Bon Secours Health System as executive vice president and CMO in 2006, Dr. Priest was senior associate chief of staff, chief quality officer and medical director for critical care transport for the University of Alabama at Bir- mingham. He also serves as chair of the board of Good Help, an accountable care organization with more than 60,000 attributed individuals. David Pryor, MD. Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer of Ascension Health (St. Louis). Before his current appointment, Dr. Pryor served as CMO of Ascension Health for 11 years. His previous administrative roles include senior vice president and CIO of Allina Health Sys- tem in Minneapolis, president of New England Medical Center in Boston and various clinical leadership positions at Duke University Medi- cal Center in Durham, N.C. Dr. Pryor serves as a consulting associate professor of medicine at Duke University Medical Center. Roger A. Ray, MD. Executive Vice Pres- ident and Chief Physician Executive of Carolinas HealthCare System (Charlotte, N.C.). Prior to joining Carolinas in 2007, Dr. Ray served as chief quality officer of BayCare Health System in Tampa, Fla., CMO of Morton Plant Mease Healthcare in Clearwater, Fla., and CMO of AnMed Health System in Anderson, S.C. He practiced clinical neurology for 10 years before assuming administrative responsibilities. Norman Rizk, MD. CMO of Stanford (Calif.) Health Care. Dr. Rizk was appoint- ed CMO of Stanford Health Care in 2011. He also serves as senior associate dean for clinical affairs for Stanford University School of Medicine and medical director of the intensive care unit for Stanford Health Care. Dr. Rizk, a pulmonologist, is also a professor of medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. Selwyn Rogers, MD. Vice President and CMO of University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston). Prior to being named CMO of UTMB in 2014, Dr. Rogers was professor and chairman of surgery at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He has also served as director of the Center for Surgery and Public Health and division chief for trauma, burns and surgical care at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He has held academic appointments as Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and Meharry Medical College, both in Nashville. John T. Rosenthal, MD. Associate Vice Chancellor and CMO of UCLA Health (Los Angeles). Dr. Rosenthal held a number of positions with UCLA Health before he was named CMO in 1999, including director of renal transplantation for the UCLA School of Medicine, executive vice chairman of the de- partment of surgery, vice chairman of the med- ical faculty board and director of the UCLA Medical Group. In addition to his current role, he serves as associate vice chancellor for the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Craig D. Rhyne, MD. CMO of Covenant Health System (Lubbock, Texas). Prior to being named CMO in 2011, Dr. Rhyne was trauma medical director of Covenant Health System. He has held a number of positions within the organization, including chair of the Trauma Peer Review Committee and chair of the Covenant Transfer Committee. He received the 1990 Clinical Teaching Award for outstand- ing clinical instruction at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock in 1990. Lee Sacks, MD. Executive Vice Pres- ident and CMO of Advocate Health Care (Downers Grove, Ill.). In addition to serving as executive vice president and CMO of Advocate Health Care, Dr. Sacks has served as CEO of Advocate Physicians Partners since its creation in 1995. He is past president of the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians and chairs the American Hospital Association Committee on Clinical Leadership.
