purchase 88-bed Lehigh Regional Med-
ical Center in Lehigh Acres, Fla., from
subsidiaries of Franklin, Tenn.-based
Community Health Systems. Prime
also completed its purchase of St. Joseph
Mercy Port Huron (Mich.) from Livonia,
Mich.-based Trinity Health. Additional-
ly, Hartford, Conn.-based Saint Francis
Hospital announced Sept. 1 the Vatican
approved its merger with Trinity Health.
Saint Mary's Health System in Water-
bury, Conn., signed an agreement to join
Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health's
network.
St. Louis-based SSM Health completed its
previously announced purchase of Saint
Louis University Hospital.
Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, St.
Louis-based Ascension and San Francis-
co-based Dignity Health finalized a joint
venture to own and operate Carondelet
Health Network based in Tucson, Ariz.
Knoxville, Tenn.-based Tennova Health-
care added four more hospitals to its
network.
King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal
Health Services reached a definitive
agreement and received federal approval
to purchase Foundations Recovery Net-
work, a Brentwood, Tenn.-based provider
of integrated treatment for addiction and
mental health, for approximately $350
million.
University Hospitals and Sisters of Char-
ity Health System, both based in Cleve-
land, signed an agreement to transfer sole
ownership of St. John Medical Center in
Westlake, Ohio, to UH.
Union, S.C.-based Wallace omson
Hospital is now Union Medical Center
and is part of Spartanburg (S.C.) Region-
al Healthcare System.
Kingsport, Tenn.-based Wellmont Health
System and Johnson City, Tenn.-based
Mountain State Health Alliance moved
one step closer to merging. e two sys-
tems filed a letter of intent with the Ten-
nessee Department of Health, indicating
the organizations will submit an applica-
tion for a Certificate of Public Advantage
this fall. e systems also submitted a
similar intent to request approval with the
Southwest Virginia Health Authority. n
