33 EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP 15 Hospital, Health System Population Health Administrators to Know By Kelly Gooch A s the healthcare landscape changes, so must the leader- ship teams of provider organizations. e rise of popu- lation health management has led many health systems to add new population health administrators. Here are 15 population health administrators to know at hos- pitals and health systems, presented alphabetically. Note: Population health administrators were selected based on editorial judgment and discretion. Individuals did not pay for inclusion on this list. Charles H. Chodroff, MD. Senior Vice President of Population Health and Chief Clinical Officer for WellSpan Health (York, Pa.). Since joining the system in 1986, Dr. Chodroff has served in various roles with WellSpan, including medical director of the York Hospital outpatient clinics from 1987 to 1991. Dr. Chodroff 's role at WellSpan expanded in October 2013 when he was named senior vice president of population health and chief clinical officer. In addition to leading the system's clinical quality and care management activities, Dr. Chodroff develops and implements WellSpan's population health strategy. Robert A. Greene, MD. Executive Vice President and Chief Population Health Management Officer of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (Lebanon, N.H.). Dr. Greene joined Dartmouth-Hitchcock's leadership team in July 2014. He oversees operations for population health management and accountable care organization work across the Dartmouth-Hitchcock system. He leads development and implementation strategies to succeed under population-based reimbursement models, and he also plays a key role in employ- ee wellness and population health initiatives, working with programs at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and with partners in the community. Prior to joining Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Dr. Greene was senior vice president for innovation and applied analytics for Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealthcare. In this role, he led the clinical analytics division of UHC, where he was responsible for coordinating clinical performance measurement across the company. Jean Haynes. Chief Population Health Officer of Uni- versity of Colorado Health (Aurora). Ms. Haynes serves as the organization's first chief population health officer. She has roughly 25 years of experience in healthcare management and finance with large integrated systems. She spent her first decade in healthcare working as a critical care and emergency medicine nurse at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill., the largest hos- pital in the OSF HealthCare system. She also previously served as president and CEO of Geisinger Health Plan, as executive vice president of insurance operations for Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System and as director of quality manage- ment at Humana Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla. Prior to joining UCHealth, Ms. Haynes was president and CEO of Univita Health in Eden Prairie, Minn. Jonathan Jaffery, MD. Chief Population Health Officer of University of Wisconsin Health (Madison). Dr. Jaffery is responsible for the overall development, coordination and implementation of the population health management strategy at UW Health. Working in close collaboration with payers and community partners, his role includes redesigning methods of payment that promote healthcare's triple aim. A board-certified nephrologist, Dr. Jaffery completed a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy fellowship, served on the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance and is a former CMO for the Wisconsin State Medicaid program. Navneet Kathuria, MD. Vice President of Popula- tion Health for Meridian Health (Neptune, N.J.). Dr. Kathuria has more than two decades of experience in leadership positions in academic medicine and the private sector with a principal focus on healthcare operations, patient safety, qual- ity and education. At Meridian Health, Dr. Kathuria leads the population health programs for the system in addition to leading the system's ACO. Before joining Meridian, he was the chief performance improvement officer for Baylor College of Medi- cine in Dallas. Dr. Kathuria was also the principal leader in the establishment of the Center of Globalization at Baylor College of Medicine. Prior to Baylor, Dr. Kathuria was vice chairman of medicine for quality and deputy CMO at e Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He also served as chief quality and clinical integration officer for Armonk, N.Y.-based Stellaris Health. Nancy Lane, PhD. Senior Vice President for Popula- tion Health Management of Vanderbilt University Medical Center (Nashville, Tenn.). Dr. Lane, a licensed psychologist, oversees the creation of systems and programs necessary to successfully manage the quality and cost of health- care delivery under population-based reimbursement mod- els. Prior to joining Vanderbilt, she worked for 18 years with ValueOptions, the largest privately owned behavioral health and wellness organization in the nation.
