MediCopia Pathology Specimen Labeling and Track-
ing (US patent #9058636) allows nurses in the OR
and at ASCs to positively identify a patient, label pathology specimens with a unique
barcode immediately upon collection (per physician instruction) and to print a sum-
mary requisition sheet. Procedure room workflow is optimized for both surgeon and
nurse. The containers are then tracked from the Procedure Room to the Pathology
Lab using barcode technology.
An Interface to your Pathology system (and optionally EMR) automatically
transfers the specimen and requisition information, where it is reviewed by a pa-
thologist for accuracy upon specimen receipt in the Lab. Patient safety is enhanced
through positive-patient identification, automated container tracking, and elimina-
tion of duplicate data entry.
