29 Transactions & Joint Ventures HCA Defeats Opponents: 5 Things to Know About TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center's $17M Surgery Center Project By Carrie Pallardy D espite several dissenters and a denial from the Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency, Hospital Corporation of America's TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center will be moving forward with a surgery center project, according to a Nashville Business Journal report. Here are five things to know about the project. 1. HCA purchased a $65 million site for the medical center's freestanding and surgery center project last year. 2. The Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency denied the medical center's certificate of need application for a freestanding ED. 3. But now, the state department has approved a CON for the Southern Hills Surgery Center to be relocated to the former AIG campus near Brent- wood, Tenn., according to the report. 4. Opponents of the project include Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tenn., and a number of surgery groups. 5. The surgery center relocation project is expected to cost $17 million. n Beloit Health System ASC Earns Long-Awaited CON: 4 Key Points By Carrie Pallardy Beloit Health System, based in Roscoe, Ill., has been trying to add a surgery center to its NorthPointe Health and Wellness Campus in Roscoe for approximately two years. Now, the project will finally move forward, according to a Beloit Daily News report. Here are four key points on the project. 1. In June 2014, the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board cast a split vote on the surgery center project, four for and four against. The project needed five votes to move forward. 2. Beloit had the chance to rework its proposal. Now the review board has voted five-to-three in favor of the project, according to the report. 3. Now that the center has a certificate of need, construction is ex- pected to begin in the fourth quarter of this year. 4.
