LaGrange-based West Georgia Health signed
a formal letter of intent to join with Marietta,
Ga.-based WellStar Health System, the largest
nonprofit community health system in the state.
WellStar also scrapped plans to merge with Atlan-
ta-based Emory Healthcare.
Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg, Miss., of-
ficially became a member of Jackson, Miss.-based
Merit Health, which is now comprised of 12 hos-
pitals, making it Mississippi's largest healthcare
system.
Mishawaka, Ind.-based Saint Joseph Regional
Medical Center and several other local health-
care organizations under parent company Trinity
Health, based in Livonia, Mich., are merging to
create one coordinated health system called Saint
Joseph Health System.
Suffern, N.Y.-based Bon Secours Charity Health
System and Westchester Medical Center, a Val-
halla, N.Y.-based safety-net hospital, signed a
joint venture agreement with a goal of providing
improved health services in their region.
Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines and Skiff
Medical Center, a 48-bed hospital in Newton,
Iowa, reached an agreement for Skiff to become a
fully owned Mercy hospital.
Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare and Cov-
ington, Ga.-based Newton Medical Center an-
nounced both organizations have agreed to a
long-term lease agreement to add Newton to the
Piedmont system.
Ravenna, Ohio-based Robinson Health System
officially became part of Cleveland-based Univer-
sity Hospitals.
Banning, Calif.-based San Gorgonio Memorial
Hospital entered into exclusive affiliation talks
with nonprofit Loma Linda (Calif.) University
Health and Adventist Health in Roseville, Calif.
Lodi (Calif.) Health officially became part of
Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health, closing
a deal that involved nearly two years of negotia-
tions.
Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer, Ind., an-
nounced its plans to join Mishawaka, Ind.-based
Franciscan Alliance.
CHRISTUS Health Louisiana, a region of Ir-
ving, Texas-based CHRISTUS Health, and New
Orleans-based Ochsner Health System formed a
strategic partnership.
Athens, Ga.-based St. Mary's Health Care System
acquired Lavonia, Ga.-based Ty Cobb Regional
Medical Center.
Trinity Health, a nonprofit health system based
in Minot, N.D., signed a letter of intent to become
part of Billings Clinic RegionalCare, a joint ven-
ture between Billings (Mont.) Clinic and Regional-
Care Hospital Partners, based in Brentwood, Tenn.
Carondelet Health Network, based in Tucson,
Ariz., and its parent company, St. Louis-based As-
cension Health, are close to finalizing a deal with
San Francisco-based Dignity Health and a sub-
sidiary of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare to create
a joint venture.
