Roper Hospital (Charleston, S.C.). Roper Hospi- tal was founded in 1829 as the first community hospital in the Carolinas. This 368-bed facility boasts the first accredited emergency room in the region, a helipad on the roof, CyberKnife technol- ogy and a Heart & Vascular Center, among other amenities and services. Truven Health Analytics named it as one of the 100 Top Hospitals in the U.S. for the first time this year. Roper Hospital has also received several awards from Healthgrades, including the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence, the Outstanding Patient Ex- perience Award and the Stroke Care Excellence Award this year, among others. Redington-Fairview General Hospital (Skow- hegan, Maine). Redington-Fairview General Hospital is an independent, critical access hospi- tal located about 90 miles northeast of Portland, Maine. The hospital has been serving the roughly 30,000 residents of Somerset County since 1952. Redington-Fairview General Hospital is a mem- ber of the Maine Hospital Association and has a network of community-based primary care and pediatric physicians. The hospital boasts two re- cent awards from Healthgrades: It received the Pulmonary Care Excellence Award in 2014 and 2015 and the Outstanding Patient Experience Award in 2013 and 2014. iVantage Health Analyt- ics also named it to the Top 100 Critical Access List this year. Renown South Meadows Medical Center (Reno, Nev.). Renown South Meadows boasts the only emergency room in south Reno, and it is also the only designated level II trauma center in northern Nevada, as awarded by the American College of Surgeons. In 2012, the hospital became a Pathway to Excellence hospital. Renown South Meadows received the Patient Safety Excellence Award and the Joint Replacement Excellence Award from Healthgrades this year. Additionally, for the first time ever, Truven Health Analytics named the 76- bed hospital as one of the 100 Top Hospitals in the nation this year. River Falls (Wis.) Area Hospital. River Falls Area Hospital is a critical access hospital that is part of Minneapolis-based Allina Health, but it has roots back to 1939 when it was founded. It offers the full range of services, including robotic sur- gery and a birth center, and its campus includes the River Falls Area Hospital, River Falls Medi- cal Clinic, and specialty provider partners at the Kinnic Long-Term Care Facility. The hospital has earned the Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Ex- perience Award each year since 2013. In 2015, the hospital also received the Women's Choice Award for America's Best Hospitals: Emergency Care. Riverside Medical Center (Kankakee, Ill.). This 325-bed hospital is part of Riverside HealthCare, a fully integrated system serving patients in four counties. It is the only hospital with Mag- net recognition for excellence in nursing in the area and has been named one of Truven Health Analytics' 100 Top Hospitals six times, most recently in 2015. Riverside Medical Center has earned several other prestigious awards since it opened in 1964, including several awards from Healthgrades, such as the Distinguished Hospi- tal Award for clinical Excellence and the Patient Safety Excellence Award. It received both of those awards in 2014 and 2015. Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast (Miramar Beach, Fla.). Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast opened to patients in January 2003 with 50 beds and is a member of St. Louis- based Ascension Health. In June 2014, SHHEC announced a $30 million expansion of facili- ties to increase capacity for inpatient, maternity, emergency and pediatric services. The hospital has been recognized in several ways for general excellence. For instance, Truven Health Analytics has named SHHEC to its list of 100 Top Hospitals each year since 2012, and the hospital has earned multiple awards from Healthgrades recently, in- cluding the America's 100 Best Hospitals for Or- thopedic Surgery Award and the America's 100 Best Hospitals for Spine Surgery Award this year. Salem (Ore.) Hospital. Salem Hospital is licensed for 458 acute care beds and is Salem's largest employer, with about 3,900 employees. Its active medical staff has 673 members, and the hospital boasts a volunteer corps of 460. Salem Hospital runs the busiest emergency department in the state, with 95,830 visits in 2014. The hospital holds Magnet status for nursing excellence as well as a bevy of Healthgrades awards, including the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excel- lence, among many others. Sentara RMH Medical Center (Harrisonburg, Va.). Sentara RMH Medical Center started out as Rockingham Memorial Hospital back in 1912. The 238-bed hospital partnered with Sentara Healthcare in 2010 and serves a population of nearly 218,000. Sentara RMH Medical Center received the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence from Healthgrades in 2014 and 2015 and also earned the Women's Health Excellence Award from Healthgrades in 2014. Spectrum Health Zeeland (Mich.) Commu- nity Hospital. This 57-bed hospital has a team of more than 250 physicians, 425 employees and 120 volunteers. Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital has a more than 80-year history of serving patients in the Zeeland area. The hospital is known for pleasing patients, as it has received the Outstanding Patient Experi- ence Award from Healthgrades each year since 2013, but it also keeps patients safe, as it has also received the Patient Safety Excellence Award for three years in a row. SSM St. Joseph Hospital West (Lake Saint Louis, Mo.). SSM St. Joseph Hospital West is home to the only state-designated trauma center in West- ern St. Charles County. The 122-bed hospital was established in 1986 and now is the leading provider of emergency and obstetric services in three counties. In 2014, the hospital had 43,260 emergency visits and 1,149 births. In 2015, SSM St. Joseph Hospital West earned the Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades and has earned several "A" grades for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group. St. Clair Hospital (Pittsburgh). St. Clair Hospital opened its doors in 1954. This 328-bed hospital is an independent hospital with 550 physicians and 2,300 employees serving a population of more than 500,000 in southwestern Pennsylva- nia. St. Clair is also planning an expansion, as it purchased four parcels of land next to its hospital campus in May. Among other accolades, Truven Health Analytics has named St. Clair Hospital to its list of 100 Top Hospitals three times, most re- cently in 2014. St. Cloud (Minn.) Hospital. St. Cloud Hospital was founded by the Sisters of the Order of St. Benedict in 1886.
