Newburgh, N.Y.-based St. Luke's Cornwall Hos- pital announced the resignation of its president and CEO, Robert Ross. Mr. Ross will continue to serve the hospital in these roles until his departure in early June. Randall K. Segler, CEO of Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Okla., will retire after 23 years of service. Brent Smith has been named CCMH's next CEO. Community Hospital, will retire Sept. 30 after 44 years at the hospital, 41 of which he spent serving as president. Swift County-Benson Hospital in Benson, Minn., announced the appointment of Kurt Waldbillig as CEO, effective March 23. St. Charles Health System, based in Bend, Ore., named Jennifer Welander CFO. Phoenix, Ariz.-based Banner Health announced several executive leadership changes in its Ari- zona East Region. The following changes were ef- fective March 16. Todd Werner, former CEO at Banner Gateway Medical Center and Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, both located in Gilbert, Ariz., was promoted to president of Banner's Ari- zona East Region. Lamont Yoder, RN, replaced Mr. Werner as CEO of Banner Gateway and Ban- ner MD Anderson. Laura Robertson, RN, moved from her position as CEO of Banner Baywood Medical Center and Banner Heart Hospital, both in Mesa, Ariz., into the role of CEO of Banner Desert Medical Center. Julie Nunley, RN, CEO of Banner Ironwood Medical Center in San Tan Val- ley, Ariz., and Banner Goldfield Medical Center in Apache Junction, Ariz., became CEO of Banner Baywood and Banner Heart. Seth Whitmer, CEO of Morton (Wash.) General Hospital, was terminated from the position. Boston Medical Center, the largest safety-net hospital in Massachusetts, and Tufts Medical Center in Boston are involved in merger negotia- tions and are working to have the deal completed by the end of 2015. Slidell (La.) Memorial Hospital and New Or- leans-based Ochsner Health System signed a letter of intent to form a partnership with a joint operating agreement that is expected to strategi- cally benefit both organizations. Stanford (Calif.) Health Care received approval from California Attorney General Kamala Harris to move forward with its acquisition of Pleasan- ton, Calif.-based ValleyCare Health System. Cleveland-based University Hospitals and Ravenna, Ohio-based Robinson Health System signed a letter of intent to fully integrate Rob- inson Memorial with the University Hospitals health system. Kingsport, Tenn.-based Wellmont Health System and Johnson City, Tenn.-based Mountain States Health Alliance announced the two organiza- tions are in exclusive merger talks. Subsidiaries of Franklin, Tenn.-based Commu- nity Health Systems divested Chesterfield Gen- eral Hospital in Cheraw, S.C., and Marlboro Park Hospital in Bennettsville, S.C. Salem (Ore.) Health and Oregon Health & Sci- ence University in Portland expect to sign a let- ter of intent in early May to affiliate their clinical enterprises. Riverhead, N.Y.-based Peconic Bay Medical Center's board of directors approved a defini- tive agreement to become a full member of Great Neck, N.Y.-based North Shore-LIJ Health Sys- tem following completion of contractual approv- als and governmental regulatory review.
