Subsidiaries of Franklin, Tenn.-based Commu- nity Health Systems sold Harris Hospital in Newport, Ark., to White County Medical Center of Searcy, Ark. Covenant Children's Hospital in Lubbock, Tex- as, agreed to enter into a partnership with Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. Brentwood, Tenn.-based for-profit LifePoint Hos- pitals completed its acquisition of Nason Hospital, a 44-bed community hospital in Roaring Spring, Pa. North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health Sys- tem, a 19-hosptial system based in Manhasset, N.Y., and Maimonides Medical Center, a tertiary care teaching hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., signed a memorandum of understanding to engage in ex- clusive partnership negotiations. Boston-based Partners HealthCare backed out of a deal to acquire South Shore Hospital in Wey- mouth, Mass. California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris conditionally approved a transaction allowing Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services to acquire six hospitals from Los Altos, Calif.- based Daughters of Charity Health System. Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services completed its acquisition of 310-bed St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo., and 146-bed St. Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs, Mo. Tenet Healthcare, a for-profit hospital operator based in Dallas, and Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy announced Tenet was backing out of a deal to purchase five hospitals in the state.
