Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network part- nered with Celtic Healthcare in Mars, Pa., to create a for-profit hospice and home health network. The board that oversees Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., voted to only engage in partnership discussions with Florida Hospital in Tampa. Lewisburg, Pa.-based Cancer Care of Central Pennsylvania became part of the Danville, Pa.- based Geisinger Cancer Institute family on Dec. 1. Englewood, Colo.-based Centura Health and Da- Vita HealthCare Partners in Denver announced they are forming a joint venture with an aim of increasing care coordination and lowering health- care costs for patients in Colorado and Kansas. The Citrus County Hospital Board voted to allow Inverness, Fla.-based Citrus Memorial Hospital to join Tampa-based HCA West Florida under a 50-year lease. Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Sys- tems' subsidiary acquired operational control of Gaffney (S.C.) Medical Center. CHS also signed a definitive agreement to sell substantially all of the assets of Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Ala., Dallas Regional Medical Cen- ter in Mesquite, Texas, and both of their related outpatient services to Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services. Huntsville (Ala.) Hospital Health System joined Curae Health, a new nonprofit health system that will include three hospitals in northwest Alabama, as part of a strategic affiliation agreement that was signed by both parties Franklin, Tenn.-based IASIS Healthcare signed a definitive agreement to sell 177-bed North Vista Hospital in Las Vegas to Prime Healthcare Services. Kennedy Health System in southern New Jersey and Los Angeles-based RadNet announced the launch of Garden State Radiology Network, a medical imaging joint venture. Louisville, Ky.-based post-acute services provider Kindred Healthcare signed a definitive merger agreement to acquire Centerre Healthcare — an operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals — for approximately $195 million. Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., signed an agreement to become part of Great Neck, N.Y.-based North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. Sound Physicians, a Tacoma, Wash.-based pro- vider of hospitalist and post-acute physician care, announced it will serve 80 percent more hospitals through the acquisition of Brentwood, Tenn.- based Cogent Healthcare. Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Saint Joseph Mercy Health System — a member of Livonia, Mich.- based Trinity Health — has entered into a defini- tive agreement to sell 164-bed St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron (Mich.) Hospital to Prime Health- care Services. SwedishAmerican Health System, a two-hospital system in Rockford, Ill., and University of Wis- consin Health in Madison signed a definitive agreement to merge. The sponsorship of Toledo, Ohio-based Sylvania Franciscan Health was completely transferred from the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania (Ohio) to En- glewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives. UC Irvine Health in Orange, Calif., and Corona (Calif.) Regional Medical Center — a subsidiary of King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services — entered into an affiliation agreement to expand access to specialty healthcare services in Corona and its surrounding communities. The Tucson-based University of Arizona Health Network merger with Phoenix-based Banner Health is set to close on Jan. 31, 2015, making Banner the state's largest private employer. Monroe, Wash.-based Valley General Hospital will join EvergreenHealth as part of the third and final phase of an alliance agreement that has been approved by the boards of commissioners at both organizations.
