Save the date! Becker's Hospital Review Annual Meeting – May 7-9, 2015 – Chicago 62 Downers Grove-based Advocate Health Care and Evanston-based NorthShore University Health System unveiled plans to combine and create a 16-hospital system, the largest in Illinois. Health insurer Anthem Blue Cross and seven California hospital groups plan to enter into a joint venture with the goal of providing high- quality, coordinated and efficient care throughout the state. Participating hospitals and health sys- tems include UCLA Health System, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospital — all based in Los Angeles. Huntington Memo- rial Hospital in Pasadena, Fountain Valley-based MemorialCare Health System, PIH Health in Whittier and Torrance (Calif.) Memorial Health will also be part of Anthem Blue Cross Vivity. St. Louis-based Ascension Health and Evolution Health — a division of Greenwood Village, Colo.- based Envision Healthcare — formed a joint venture to provide post-acute services, including home care, to individuals in communities served by Ascension's Health Ministries. Athens (Ga.) Regional Health System and Mor- gan Memorial Hospital in Madison, Ga., an- nounced plans to form a clinical collaboration to strengthen primary care delivery. Beaumont Health System in Royal Oak, Mich., Oakwood Healthcare in Dearborn, Mich., and Botsford Health Care in Farmington Hills, Mich., finalized their merger and created a new $3.8 billion nonprofit health system called Beaumont Health. The Brooklyn (N.Y.) Hospital Center became a clinical affiliate of The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and an academic affiliate of The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville, Ohio, decided to end its affiliation with Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Lutheran Health Network. Brentwood, Tenn.-based Duke LifePoint Health- care completed its acquisition of Conemaugh Health System in Johnstown, Pa. Maine's Department of Health and Human Ser- vices approved Farmington, Maine-based Frank- lin Community Health Network's proposed partnership with Portland-based MaineHealth. The board of Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., voted to pursue a part- nership with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. Jameson Health System, based in New Castle, Pa., signed a letter of intent to merge with Pittsburgh- based UPMC. King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky., affiliated with the Cleveland Clinic Heart & Vascular Institute. Lodi (Calif.) Health signed a letter of intent to form an affiliation with Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health. The New York Public Health and Health Plan- ning Council unanimously approved a proposed affiliation between Montefiore Health System in Bronx, N.Y., and White Plains (N.Y.) Hospital. Chicago, Ill.-based Northwestern Memorial HealthCare and Winfield, Ill.-based Cadence Health completed the agreement that expands Northwestern Medicine, a fully integrated health system. North Bergen, N.J.-based Palisades Medical Cen- ter, a 202-bed facility, signed a letter of intent to join Hackensack University Health Network, one of the largest healthcare systems in New Jersey. Eight hospitals, 163 clinics, 24 ancillary provider locations and 2,875 primary and specialty physi- cians in Washington State formed a new health network — Puget Sound High-Value Network. Some of the providers in the new network include: Tacoma, Wash.-based CHI Franciscan Health (formerly Franciscan Health System); Bellevue, Wash.-based Overlake Medical Center; Bothell, Wash.-based Lakeshore Clinic; and Seattle-based Virginia Mason Medical Center. The network will be managed by First Choice Health in Seattle. River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace, La., agreed to join New Orleans-based Ochsner Health System. Under the agreement between Ochsner and the hospital's current parent company, Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals, Ochsner will run River Parishes as an outpatient medical facil- ity, with a focus on emergency, outpatient diag- nostic and primary care services. St. Louis-based SSM Health Care entered into an agreement to acquire Audrain County Health De- partment's Home Health and Hospice Division. Sylvania Franciscan Health in Toldeo, Ohio, and Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initia- tives reached a definitive merger agreement. Un- der the agreement, CHI will assume ownership of the seven-hospital system from the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio. Three North Carolina health systems — Vidant Health, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and WakeMed Health & Hospitals — formed a shared services operating company.
