Mr. Ross started Solara Surgical Partners and currently serves as its CEO. He has more than 30 years of management experience in health- care, energy and finance, including 17 years in operations management, finance, strategy and business development in several healthcare in- dustries. He previously founded and developed Solara Healthcare, where he helped develop seven long-term acute care hospitals. Mr. Ross is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the University of Okla- homa Health Sciences Center Adjunct Faculty and a CPA. Bob Scheller (Nikitis Resource Group). Mr. Scheller is CEO and COO of Nikitis Resource Group. He previously served as senior vice president of Aspen Healthcare. Before becom- ing involved in the ASC industry, he worked in public accounting and later hospital adminis- tration and physician practice consulting. He earned his MBA from the University of Wis- consin in Madison. Donald Schellpfeffer, MD (Medical Facilities Corp.). Dr. Schellpfeffer is the CEO of Medical Facilities Corporation and Sioux Falls (S.D.) Spe- cialty Hospital. As an original founder of Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital, Dr. Schellpfeffer has been its CEO and a member of the management com- mittee since the facility's inception in 1985. He has more than 30 years of experience in ambu- latory surgical environments and in general, car- diovascular and trauma practices. Dr. Schellpfef- fer received a master's degree and a bachelor of science degree from the College of Veterinary and Medicine; a PhD in animal physiology from the University of Minnesota; and an MD from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. He completed his residency in anesthesiology in Wisconsin. Matt Searles (Merritt Healthcare). Mr. Searles has been a partner with Merritt Healthcare for more than 10 years. During that time, he has managed, developed and advised for dozens of healthcare facilities across the country. Mr. Sear- les is also a registered investment banking agent holding Series 79 and Series 63 licenses. His back- ground includes experience in corporate finance and venture capital-backed companies. Prior to Merritt, he served as senior vice president of fi- nance for a service company based in Greenwich, Conn. He earned his MBA from Duke University in Durham, N.C. John R. Seitz (ManageMyASC). Mr. Seitz is presi- dent and CEO of ManageMyASC, a real-time, interactive management tool that provides a view into the financial and operational performance of a surgical center with tracking, benchmarking, analysis and recommendations. He has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare, including founding and leading start-up companies. He was one of the founders and president of Surgem and was responsible for building the company from the ground up. Prior to founding Surgem, Mr. Seitz served as founder and CEO of Cornerstone Physicians, a medical practice management com- pany. Mr. Seitz is a graduate of Boston's Harvard Business School Owners and Presidents Manage- ment program. Sue Shelley (Surgical Partners of America). Ms. Shelly is a partner and founder of Surgical Partners of America, a Dallas-based ambulatory surgery center consulting services company. Be- fore starting Surgical Partners of America, she co- founded United Surgical Partners International in 1998 and served as the company's executive vice president until 2002. She has also developed and operated over 100 ambulatory surgery centers at Columbia/HCA, Medical Care International and University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Ms. Shelley utilizes her experience at nonprofit hospitals to bring the best hospital practices to freestanding centers. She has a masters degree in healthcare administration from Duke University in Durham, N.C. Barry Tanner, CPA (Physicians Endoscopy). Mr. Tanner has been CEO of Physicians Endos- copy since 1999 and co-authored the company's business plan together with CFO Karen Sablyak. The company currently owns and manages 28 endoscopy centers in partnership with physicians and hospitals. Before joining PE, Mr. Tanner held various senior executive positions in healthcare for more than 20 years, working both on the provider side and in financial services. He previ- ously served as CFO of Navix Radiology Systems, a physician practice management company based in Miami, which he also co-founded. Larry D. Taylor (Practice Partners in Health- care). Mr. Taylor is founder, president and CEO of the company. He has more than 30 years of ex- perience in healthcare delivery, management and physician relations, and prior to founding Prac- tice Partners in Healthcare, he served as president and COO of the largest provider of ambulatory surgery centers in the United States. His initial entry into healthcare was focused in the delivery of sports medicine and orthopedic care. Since founding Practice Partners, the team has devel- oped and opened multiple surgery centers and has a pipeline of centers under development and construction. Mr. Taylor also has a background in education and currently serves as an adjunct professor in healthcare at the University of Ala- bama at Birmingham and participates as a board member for ASCA and the Ambulatory Surgery Center Foundation. Pedro Juan Vergne-Morell (PCI | HealthDev). Mr. Vergne-Morell is the CEO of PCI | Health- Dev, a Dallas-based healthcare facility construc- tion and investment company. He develops and maintains PCI | HealthDev's corporate identity and marketing direction. Mr. Vergne-Morrell concentrates on cultivating investor relation- ships and partnerships. He has more than 17 years of business leadership experience. He earned his Master's in Business Administration in marketing and finance from the University of Texas at Dallas. Terry Weisman (Denovo Development). Mr. Weisman serves as president of Denovo Develop- ment, which focuses on ground-up development of surgical centers including physicians LLC for- mation, real estate investment and development, operations and management. He began his career in the workers' compensation industry, develop- ing urgent care, physical therapy and industrial medicine facilities in partnership with physicians. After 11 years in that business, he was hired by Andrew Brooks of California-based Specialty Sur- gical Center in order to grow the business. There he developed six surgical centers in southern Cali- fornia. After the company was sold to Symbion, he started Denovo Development.
