Becker's Hospital Review CEO Strategy Roundtable - Nov. 5, 2014 - Chicago 10 100 Great Community Hospitals Becker's Hospital Review has named its 2014 edition of "100 Great Community Hospitals," a list based on community hospitals' accolades, quality and service to their communities. The hospitals listed here have fewer than 550 beds and minimal teaching programs. Some are located in suburban areas, but many are found in rural areas and serve as the only hospitals in their communities. Whether independent or part of a larger health system, the following hospitals have continually worked to provide the quality of care and the experience patients deserve and expect. The Becker's Hospital Review editorial team selected community hospitals based on rankings and awards from iVantage Health Analytics, Truven Health Ana- lytics (formerly Thomson Reuters), CareChex and the American Hospital Association. iVantage awards con- sidered include Healthstrong Hospitals — which are hospitals in the top tier of iVantage's Hospital Strength Index rankings — and the Top 100 Critical Access Hospital list, which indicates the hospital performs as well or better at the median overall than the full census of all U.S. general acute-care hospitals in clinical and operational performance and financial and qualitative outcomes. Inclusion on Truven Health Analytics' 100 Top Hospitals list also factored in. Note: This list is not an endorsement of included hos- pitals or associated healthcare providers, and organi- zations cannot pay for inclusion on this list. Hospi- tals are presented in alphabetical order. Adirondack Medical Center (Saranac Lake, N.Y.).
